Help...terrible Gas Pains

Recommended Posts

I am 5 days out and feeling more gas pains than I did in the hospital. I am feeling the pain all through my chest and shoulders. It makes it hard to take a good, deep breath because it hurts. I have not passed much gas but I wish I could. I have not tried any Gas-X yet. Think I will get some today. Any suggestions fellow sleevers?

The gas pain is a killer. Sorry for the personal question here, but are you going #2? Are you taking a stool softener such as Colace? My doc has me taking it twice a day. Also, when I had these problems the first three weeks post-op, the surgeon advised me to take Miralax. You can also take Milk of Magnesia, but it is rough on your system and should not be taken regularly. I took Miralax every day for about 2 weeks and then started taking it if I did not go #2 for a couple days.

Funny story: I thought I had a pulled muscle in my lower right abdomen starting about 9 or 10 days post-op. I couldn't stand up, sit down, bend over, etc without some very serious discomfort. Then the Miralax kicked in and I felt like a new person. So, take the Gas-X strips but make sure things are moving through your GI system.

Well....I finally started going #2 about 3 days post-op. It is very strange looking...sort of like tea leaves or something very loose I have never experienced (sorry about the TMI). It is definitely not normal looking. I am going to get some Gas-x tonight.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
