I had a friend that went to Dr Joya for her lapband and then again her her revision to RNY. She can't say enough good things about him, his staff and the facility.

Woo-Hoo!!!' Good for you!!! If I can get the personal loan I will shoot for the same dates! I would love to go have a buddy having surgery at the same time!!! I'm so excited for you!!!

YES! you should totally book the same dates! When will you find out about the loan? It seems like a lot of people are doing the Tijuana option so I'm not sure I'll have much luck finding anyone going on those dates... I will post an add looking for people a little later just incase!

But I really hope we can do it together! That would awesome!

I should know next week if my co-signer is a go. After that, I will have no prob getting my loan. My deposit will be out down as soon as my school $$$ comes in from financial aid. Fingers crossed by the end of this month!!! But it could be first week of December :(.

There is so much up in the air that is just out of my control at this time. But as soon as I have my loan or my deposit (whichever comes first) I will book. If I get the personal loan, I will try and book the same date as u!!! If I don't get my personal loan, I'll have to save up the $ for the surgery, so I'll have to book towards next November or early December.

I'll keep you posted for sure!!! ;)

Me too! I hope we can do it on the same day! My mom hasn't really been talking to me beside a few emails corresponding about the surgery. I think she was just teling me what I wanted to hear but still doesn't support me because since I booked the flight she hasn't talked to me... she hasnt even phoned in over a week. I am literally by myself in everything I do. So in making this decision for myself I have essentially lost my only parent because of this decision... having someone there going through the same thing at the same time would make it easier. I now have to find someone who can take care of my tiny puppy since she won't anymore. My fingers are crossed for you!!!!!!

Do you mind telling me who the surgeon is in Cancun that you found negative review on? I am scheduled to go to Cancun with Dr. Perez and obviously nervous so if there is anything that I need to know, I would appreciate the info. Thanks

I have seen a few good reviews but not many... this was one of the first few pages I saw and just stopped researching him after I saw this... http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/mexico/4554433/Dr-Hector-Perez-Corzo-in-Cancun/ I decided on Dr Joya

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
