Nov 21, Kaiser Ssf

Recommended Posts

I'm scheduled and ready to go, but can't seem to get back on track. I started at 255.1 now 199.7 (just barely in Onderland) and I seem to want to graze. All day. This hasn't been a problem till I got my surgery date.

I'm holding on by eating tons of yogurt, but still, I know I'm eating too much. Is it nerves? I wonder. I'm just trying to stay under 200 for my surgery.

I wish it was tomorrow!

Which Kaiser are you going through? I'm going through the Richmond Kaiser. Congrats to you for losing as much as you have just in the preop stage. I only had to lose 10 pounds but now the key is keeping as much off as possible before I can get my surgery scheduled. How quickly after your pshychology eval did you get to see a case manager and schedule your day? I'm trying to figure out how far out I am looking considering the holidays are coming and I have to have enough sick leave at work. Thanks.

I'm with Kaiser in South San Francisco. They didn't require that I lose that much weight, I just figured it was better to get a head start on the whole thing. My very first orientation was on June 13, 2012. After going to all the classes and such, it went pretty quick. I had an appointment with the psychologist and one surgeon on Aug 17 and could have booked then but I just wasn't crazy about the surgeon, so I asked for another one. I had that appointment on Oct 16 and his first opening was November 21, so that's when I'll be sleeved!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
