This is funny! I don't think I have much at 10 months out that I can't eat at least a few bites of if I want it. But here's the few things that I usually stay away from:

1. bread in any form that's not thinly sliced and/or toasted

2. rice

3. Pasta

4. too much sugar (sadly, I define "too much" after the fact when I'm slightly nauseous!)

5. more than a few bites of fried foods. I ate a crunchy taco in August and did just fine with one crunchy chicken taco.

6. this is weird but meats that are cooked too dry. I have more trouble with dry meats foaming up on me - ewww!

I eat too much pop corn and dry Cereal (I love to snack on multi-grain cheerios!)

I really need to branch out my Protein foods because I eat too much dairy for Protein.< /p>

I live in Sulphur, and have for a long time. Can't say I've ever had a malt from Winky Doos before. Lol

I'm 2 years and 7 months out. I don't consider anything off limits except the ONE thing Dr. Davidson said 'NEVER' again, and that is soft drinks. No big deal, I wasn't a big Coke girl, maybe a six pack per YEAR....but only fountain with a lot of ice!!! On the other hand, there are things I choose not to eat.

Theater pop corn, but my gosh, it smells so good. If I were with someone who had some, I'd eat five or six kernals. My husband doesn't eat it, so I'm safe!

Mac 'n cheese, doesn't matter what kind, there isn't anything good for you in macaroni and Cheese

Pre-sweetened Cereal - like a kid, I liked Frosted Flakes, fruit Loops and Super Sugar Crisp

Milk shakes - Once in a blue moon I'll have an ice cream cup from McDonalds, but cannot eat it all, or a jr. dip from Braum's. When I say 'blue moon', I mean three or four times per year and NEVER until I reached goal

chile relleno - full of cheese and deep fried, I just can't

Beer 'n Cheese Brats

Fried chicken, but I can do an oven fry that is pretty darn good

I can't think of anything else off hand, but I am aware of EVERY single thing I put in my mouth. No more mindless eating like before.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
