I had surgery on 9/24. My NUT told me no alcohol for another month and definetly no carbonated beverages until after the first of the year. Both because of one the alcohol affects the healing process and second the carbonation blows up your stomach and puts too much pressure on your new pouch.

Have you ever considered beer might nowt appeal to you in the same way as pre-sleeve. I'm just saying this because that happened to me. Several things I enjoyed pre sleeve like alcohol, sugar, salty foods, highly processed foods and other foods no longer appeal to me. It is like the surgery flipped a switch inside me and j have no reason to flip it back, especially since a healthy lifestyle has improved my life in so many ways.

I tried wine (allowed) at eight weeks. Just sips. It tasted terrible but I have great dedication so I've kept it up and now enjoy white and roses but red still does not work for my palate...funny thing but I'll keep practicing :). But I haven't had champagne because I was told strictly from two surgeons to hold off on any carbonation for six months because of its effect on the stomach.

I was told no carbonation period. The fizz can expand your stomach, but I still have a sip here and there. I tried a few sips of beer about two weeks ago and regretted it.

I wouldn't have had the surgery if my doc was that crazy :P. life MUST include champagne :)

I had a beer about 3 months out. I got one I knew was low carbonation but I couldn't even finish it in 2 hours. It was nice to have the taste, but really wasn't worth it. I had no problems with wine and stuck to that for awhile after.

Maura I was sleeved 8-14 and my doctors aid no alcohol or carbonation for 6 months. My bday was 9-14 and I went to the bar and had unsweetened ice tea. I completely get wanting to Celebrate but making the decision to have surgery means life style changes. Fight your temptations.

Like Iggy my Dr. allowed me to have some wine somewhere around 8 weeks, it was the holidays and he told me have some if I wished, if went down fine but hit me a lot quicker then before surgery. Now though alcohol don't really effect me like that, its almost like pre-op, I just get sober quicker!

I've had a few sips of beer here and there but not a full one, I was thinking of waiting till my 1 year surgiversay, boy how I have missed beer!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
