Down 33 pounds from my highest weight.

Down 18 pounds since presurgery. (or 20 pounds...depends on the day). Stuck for the moment but hopeful. Learning from each good time and from each "cheat" and going for a second fill in a week. I really think I got stuck when I ran out of Muscle Milk Light for my Snacks. It kind of threw me off my program. Ordered more on eBay and anxiously awaiting.....

Hello...I didn't loss any weight since last Monday. Still at 227 on my scales. I ate like crazy last week, so I guess not gaining is a plus. I had two hughes pieces of pizza on Saturday. I really didn't think I would be able to eat something like that, but as long as I chewed it I was fine. Had some pain through and around my shoulder blades though. I tried to stop after eating one piece, but about an hour later I walked by it again and ate it. Yesterday I fixed taco's for my family and I ate 2 of them and I think I could have ate 3, but I stopped. I am not eating as much as I use to, but I am not eating healthy yet. I bought some frozen meals for my lunches this week. I hope that helps. I want to lose 5 more pounds before the 22nd of January that is when I go to the doctors for my 2nd fill. I am going to try to get off my butt more this week too. Oh...Oh...I did go bowling Saturday and I bowled 3 games. I was sore the next day. I tried to stop bowling after 2 games, but the people we were with wanted me to continue, so I did. I noticed last week that I wasn't as tired as I have been. I am swollen again today. I keep feeling like I retain water...and it is noticable on my hands and ankles.

Hi Everyone,

Here is my update since I had the band on 11/21. I had my first fill on 1/5. I could immediately tell the difference, now I can only eat a small amount of food before I have to stop. I tried pushing it a bit on Friday night and had my first PB, not a good thing but not as horrible as I had thought it would be, Now I know when I need to stop so it does not happen again. My weight is coming off slow, but that's OK, I was just happy that I did not gain during the holidays since at that time i could pretty much eat anthing. I think this band will work, I just need to give it time.

I went and got my first fill this Saturday. What an experience that was. I totally fainted as soon as they finally got the needle into my port. I then woke up on the floor and started throwing up for 5 min. I didn't realize I would faint at all. They almost didn't continue with my fill but I said I wanted too since I had driven 2 hours to get there. I got my fill of 2.5cc and couldn't keep anything down so they had to remove 2cc so my total fill was 2.3cc. I really feel the restriction now. I am on only liquids and tried to have a Protein Shake yesterday which I burped up. I can't believe the difference you feel with the fill. I am looking forward to the scale going down but have to be more patient with getting things down now. Even Water it is sip, sip, sip. Has anyone else fainted when they got their fill. My Dr. said it happens so don't worry about it. It was so embarrassing!!! :faint: I am just glad it is over and I am feeling so much better today.:phanvan

:update:

I went on vacation for 2 weeks and thoroughly enjoyed it. Was able to walk and breathe at the same time! :high5: Y'all know what a good feeling that is! I took off work the whole month of December and although I dont see big changes when I look in the mirror, all my coworkers and family notice immediately. I had my first fill last week (3cc) and Dr. Fisher says I am right on track with what he expects. Of course, I wish I would wake up and be 100 pounds thinner, but ultimately I am happy as long as the scale is moving down. :welldone: I am moving and that is really alot! I know I will lose it. I didnt get to 380 overnight and I dont expect to get to 180 overnight either. I am just trying to maintain a positive attitude and be a healthier person.

Oh yeah, and I got married to my best friend and biggest supporter while I was on vacation in Vegas. I am attaching a picture.

I've been weighing myself every Monday at work. Last week, I didn't weigh until Tuesday since Monday was a holiday but I was up 2 pounds from the previous week. Today, I was down 7 pounds from last week! Tomorrow will be 9 weeks since I got the band and I'm down 27 pounds. I'm averaging 3 pounds per week so I'm THRILLED.

My friend got me an XXLT Docker's shirt for Christmas and I had to return it for an XLT. I bought myself an XLT sport shirt and wore it today and it fit with some room to spare. I figured that even when I get to where I need to be I'd still be in an XLT as I'm pretty broad shouldered but now I wonder since I still have around 40 pounds to lose and the XLT's aren't tight at all. My slacks are starting to get baggy (and I'm down 2 sizes since the end of March) but not quite baggy enough to go the next size down. It's nice, though, to find my waist size in the "regular" section. Now if they'd just make them long enough so that I don't look like I have capri pants on. Hate having to shave my legs. ;-)

Congrats! Being a newlywed, you have a good excuse for some fun "exercise". That should help burn the pounds off!!!

OMG!!! I think I just had my first PB :) yes my eyes were bulging out!!! What an awful feeling...and I do not have a fill yet! I will continue to wait. I overindulged on a dessert yesterday and now I guess my body is getting revenge :faint:

I am still hoping to be in onederland by next week.

I can't believe that you got that large of a fill for your first. I have had 2 fills now and together they total 1.5cc...wow!

I don't know what to say! That's very aggressive with the fills...no wonder you have a hard time keeping things down!

Take care!

I got a 2cc fill for my first fill which is more than he normally does but felt I was making good progress and experiencing lots of hunger. I had the fill at almost 6 weeks and he normally waits until 8. (My surgery was 11/7, first fill was 12/18. Scheduled for another fill on 1/29.)

There are different size bands so that might explain some of the difference. (Mine holds 4 cc.) But I too look at some of the fill amounts and wonder. I had problems for 3 days after my first fill and thought I might have to have some taken out. Fortunately I didn't, but a couple days were pretty rough.

just got off the phone with the dr. and i'll be getting my 3rd fill Jan 16th. I'm guessing they'll give me a .5cc fill bringing me up to 2cc. The receptionist said I have the small band the #10, but she wasn't sure how much it holds....I'm assuming it's the 4cc band.

Wish me luck!

That is the way I am feeling right now. Mine is 9.75cc so 2.3cc fill isn't really that much but boy it makes a difference. I was just trying to get down some egg flower Soup and it is hard. I just have to take things really slow. It is hard when I used to eat so fast and now have to take my time. I am on my third day and hope it gets a little easier but really that is the point to not get much in so I loose weight. I just have to remember why I did this in the first place.

I was told I had the 10 cm band which I mistook for a 10 cc band. I wonder if the "#10" is the same as a 10 cm. The doctor said he always uses a 4 cc band.

For those that think they have no restriction without a fill, keep in mind that there are 30 cc's to an ounce. If the band completely full is 4 cc's (and my doctor said he's never put more than 3.5 cc's in a band), you're actually talking about just over 1/10th of an ounce! There are 6 teaspoons in an ounce so roughly, all the way full is 1/2 of a teaspoon. It obviously works, but there's not a big difference between the empty and full!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
