i went through kaiser and on thier menu its 2 oz protien 1/4 cup carb and 1/4 cup veggie. the carb is rice potato sweet potato etc the veggies are whatever i want. ive known me for 47 years and been on so many diets i know the diffearnce between head and regular hunger.

I stay full longer when I eat Protein based meals. I'll do tuna in a lettuce wrap or grilled chicken with black Beans and I'm full for a long time.

If your wanting to stay full longer maybe try that and see if it works.

But there isn't anything wrong with having healthy small meals every three hours. Some people need it to keep up their energy. But if your looking to go a little longer between meals, like say at work, then try some high protein and see if it helps.

Everyone is different so experiment and see what works for you and your life style.

I don't know what your problem is. I was sincerely trying to help, not scold you. I asked some legitimate questions. I know you know yourself, but a lot of things change after surgery. One of those things is the feedback you get from your digestive system over things like hunger, acid reflux and satiety. Good luck.

This seems a tad aggressive! I'm not speaking for him, but I think he was only trying to share some helpful advice. A lot of people post here when they are desperate for answers, so expect to get some!

The only thing that made me throw up was the barium swallow. Not fun.

I know I'm gonna sound like a broken record but you're hunger could have something to do with what you're eating. You say you eat 1/4 cup of vegetables AND a 1/4 cup of carbs. What do you mean by "carbs", because the veggies are complex carbs. If by carbs, you mean things like rice and low fat gravy (which is full of sugar) then those foods could easily increase your hunger because they are extremely high glycemic foods. They cause the release of alot of insulin in the blood which drives hunger (as well as fat storage).

At 5 weeks out, I would think you would be more focused on eating Protein. How many grams of Protein are you getting in a day? And how many calories?

that part i should no better i dont need scolding just advice im not a child thats my problem watch how you come across ppl

And at 5 weeks' date=' you could very easily be having head hunger. And believe me, it feels just like regular hunger. That's the point. It fools you. Just because your stomach is growling does not mean it's not head hunger.[/quote']

Hey butter :). I like that------ butter.....

Anyway- I think this MUST be me but I'm falling for it alllllll the time. I'm convinced it's my belly- I feel like I did pre surgery and am losing the battle :(. I do eat Protein first so that's one good habit. I never take the potatoes or rice etc. usually Protein based meals but I'm struggling I weekends the most. :(.

Plus I have a zit on my nose :)

Justine, you are funny. Are you on solid foods? In the beginning I was hungry but I got less and less hungry the more I ate solid foods. Plus you learn to get the right amount of protein and complex carbs FOR YOU, and it gets easier. Plus, I'll ask you the same questions I asked the OP, what's your daily protein and calorie totals? Not everybody can live comfortably on 600 calories a day. I was put on 1250 calories a day way back at 6 weeks post op. I'm not saying you need that much, but you may need a few more than what you're getting.

Nothing I can say about the zit....

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
