Friday the 13th?!?!

Recommended Posts

LOL - Friday the 13th, eh?

I find the date a little amusing...

Just remember - that day is just like any other day. Ive personally never had anything bad happen on any F/13th, and cant recall anyone that HAS.

Hang in there - and be JOYFUL that you have a date!!! :)

btw: CONGRAT'S!

HI Willow5880,

Now don't you be fretting the date there. :) I got married on Friday, the 13th of Dec. almost 32 years ago and we're still going strong! Love him more today than ever before. And we were babies too..17 and 19. Nobody said it'd last. We now have two wonderful sons ages 21 and 15. So it'll be fine!!

I was just banded on Oct.3rd. My original date was Oct.13th too but I upped it cause I wanted to be ready to eat "something" besides mushies at Thanksgiving when we'll be with family so much ( nobody knows I'm banded but hubby, not even my 2 sons right in the house with me). Maybe the extra 10 days will help me out some.

As for the process...the worst part to me was the pain from the tube down my throat. Really. Isn't that crazy? My throat is still sore. I know it's from the liquid diet but I've already lost 16 pounds too. No matter how you lose it...it's gone and that's a good feeling.

You hang in there and don't let those right-before-jitters get to you. Soon you'll be over on this side headed for your destination.

Good luck,

Lynn

Thank you all for the kind words and encouragement. I know the date is just another day, but it was a little surprising at first! I can't wait until I'm one of the experienced ones encouraging pre-bandsters when they have the jitters.

I have only told my 19 year old daughter(and hubby, of course) about my decision. So it will be interesting to see if I can pull it off without having to tell everyone else. It's not like I'm ashamed(well, maybe a little) but I really don't think it's anyone's business but mine.

Oh well, we'll see what happens.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
