My surgery has been changed to the bypass because my insurance would not pay for the sleeve. It is still December 4th.

Charrison, from what I hear everything is the same in terms of diet, etc.

Yeah, I know, but I really did not want my intestines rerouted, so I am disappointed about that. But I was approved, so at least I will be able to lose weight.

Hi! I actually switched doctors. I'm having surgery Dec. 3rd with Dr. Alvarez

Did something happen with Aceves that made you switch doctors?

Hi! Nope! I'm sure Dr. Aceves is an excellent Dr. I've heard wonderful things about him, his staff, and Almater hospital. Dr. Alvarez was just a better fit for me. Travel -wise and research wise, I decided to go with him. But! My friend from church went to Aceves four years ago and still maintains his weight loss of almost 200 lbs!! I just had the procedure Monday by Dr. Alvarez and I couldn't be happier! I know you'll do great! God bless you on your journey!

I'm Dec 14 in TJ with Dr. Jesus Ortiz @ Mi Doctor!

How are y'all doing with the pre-op? I'm either 100 on or off the wagon. I've lost only 7lbs since last Monday, but I've cheated. Making a new start today, and I'm not messing around anymore!!

Glad to see everyone!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
