Does Anyone Out There Just Not Like Protein Shakes And Don't Drink Them?

Recommended Posts

This sounds good. I am going to some appointments I have tomorrow . Surgery is scheduled October 24. I didn't have a preop diet like some has had yet, I have been eating what I want .I am sure I will be on a preop diet tomorrow and until surgery

I make coffee the night before and put it in the refrigerator. In the a.m. I mix it with chocolate Protein powder. YYUUMM. sometime even a tbsp. of almond butter. Even better.

I am pre-sleeve so I don't if any of that falls within what you can and cannot have post-sleeve (dr. Instructions) but, it just gives a different taste instead of the same ole same ole. :)

I avoid them if I can. I'd rather have "real" food. I did drink one the other day (Premier Protein RTD vanilla from Sam's Club), and I made it through, but it's not my first choice. They're not terrible, they just feel so heavy on my sleeve.

I am with you! I can't stomach any of the Protein. Greek yogurt has been a Godsend! I will try the hot chocolate idea though. :-)

You can also try the cheese sauce...I think injury. If you put it on broccoli it's pretty good. Lastly unflavored Protein in a glass of milk is decent or in a yogurt or cottage cheese. I can ONLY use the Premier Protein from costco. I know that it is pricier, but it tastes good, travels well and is just so darn convenient!

I absolutely hated Protein Shakes and the day I could eat enough food and not have a Protein Shake I stopped and have never had one again. Everything was fine. I tried every trick, the cheese sauce, the unflavored Protein powder, every brand and flavor of shakes, etc. Hated them all. I stopped as soon as I could eat chicken and eggs to get protein. You should be fine as long as you are eating all protein.

I must be a weirdo - I really liked mine but haven't had one since I was able to start on regular food.< /p>

Or is it just me? I'm 2 1/2 months out and I can eat 40- 50 grams of Protein a day with just food...but I really never liked Protein shakes and so I stopped....

Are you kidding?? I love the Protein Shakes by syntax especially when mixed with light soy. Oreo, chocolate truffle, vanilla bean, they are the best. I look forward to 1-2 a day to help out either with Protein needs or when I just don't have the time to make something more solid. There are so many favors to choose from, but again, I am hooked on the sweeter varieties.

Do you get that from GNC? Just wondering if there is a cheaper place to buy. I do not have a Cosco but do have Sams Club in my area.

I order my shakes off Amazon currently. Free 2 day shipping and prices are usually $10 below a place like Vitamin world. Unfortunately, GNC does not carry syntax products. I tried the costco whey powders. They are ok, but I am not a huge fan of them.

If you drink coffee ...

I was told no caffiene of any kind after surgery. Am I the only one who was told that?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
