How Slow Can I Go?

Recommended Posts

I am curious and a little worried at the same time. I was sleeved on 8/14 and to date I've lost 25 lbs. I know everyone is different, but I feel my weight loss has been slow going in comparison to other people on this forum. When I started this weight loss process, I weighed 224 and now 199. Am I going to be a slow loser or am I doing something wrong? I don't want to waste my honeymoon stage. :(. Down and depressed.

O BOY do I understand I was sleeved on 8/15 and it is taking WEEKSSSSSSSS to lose 3lbs...... I was doing walking with a friend but I broke down and joined the gym Monday. I have lost a total of 40 over 1/2 of that was before surgery!!! Dont give up. I was so depressed Sunday, my other half was worried he has not seen me that down in a long time

I talked to my nutritionist today..... I was sleeved on Sept. 17th..... I think the key for me is to physically measure out my food with a measuring cup and not eyeballing it. At this point I am allowed 1/4 cup of food that I have to eat over 20-30 minutes LOL.. eating one pea at a time :) I plan on buying a digital food scale too, not sure how much 2 ounces of deli meat is other than the fact that it is far, far less than what used to be my norm. Get back to basics. I wish you well :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
