Testing Before Going To Mexico

Recommended Posts

I know testing is done prior to surgery at the hospital in Mexico, but did anyone (or is anyone planning) to have the same tests done that the US/insured sleevers have before going to Mexico?

Because I haven't had a physical in a long time and my current PCP is not supportive, I am switching to another PCP and thought of possibly having some of the tests done.

I didn't have tests done before going for surgery in Mexico, but trust me they are VERY thorough and do all the possible tests needed to make sure you are okay to proceed with the surgery. I had Dr. Garcia also. If you can get it done for free in the U.S. go ahead, but I say that it is not necessary.

I changed my thyroid medicine and wanted it rechecked b4 heading down there next month. I also included some typical chemistry panels and liver enzymes, also c reactive Protein. I'm a member of Life Extensions and you can order the lab from them and go to certain facilities and have it emailed to you in a few days. It cost me about 150, but worth not having to try to get copy of my lab from pcp. I'm anal about keeping my records in chronological order (ha- first born of course).

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
