Surgery Tomorrow.....

Recommended Posts

I checked in to a local hotel, am watching the 49ers game, and just drank the bowel cleansing liquid (yuck).

I have been telling myself that on October 15th I have a scheduled car accident.... When it's over,I'll recover and have a new set of restrictions to live with.... But for the first time in years, I will truly LIVE!

I am getting more nervous by the minute.... Worried about complications..... High blood pressure, and this may sound silly, but being naked on the operating table.

I am fidgety and even though my wife is here with me, I feel an odd sense of aloneness. I know I am doing the right thing, I just am so worried about the pain....

I've been reading these forums for awhile and could really use some encouraging words to talk me off the proverbial ledge!!!

With love for my fellow sleevers,

CG

Hey Carmel, It is perfectly normal to feel how you are feeling. I think we all go thru those types of feelings, I know I did. I am three weeks out and feeling great. I did not have any complications. Nothing but some NORMAL post op pain which the meds took care of. Just make sure to keep fluids up and walk walk walk even if it's just a short walk around the house or out. You won't feel much like eating but very important to keep the Protein up also. Keep a positive attitude, remember this is a life changing experience for the better.

GOOD LUCK and keep us informed.

CG,

Welcome fellow OctoSleever!

Yes, we are all here with you, even those of us who, like you, are still pre-op and a little nervous.....

Just focus on your ultimate goal of why you decided to do this in the first place and the positive changes it will have on your health and your life in general. I have to believe that whatever pain there is from the surgery itself will be far outweighed by that. (Besides, I'll put it this way since you said you were watching the 49ers game: surgery can't hurt worse than the hurtin the giants put on the Niners today)

Good luck to you. I'll be joining you on the losers bench soon!

Hi There! I'm not scheduled until Nov. 12th, but I tell you I have the same thoughts and feelings. I am female and worry too about the nakedness on the OR table, But truthfully, they have SEEN IT ALL BEFORE I'm sure! and besides there are many drapes over you - so don't worry - and you'll be asleep. Before you know it it will be over and you will start to heal - just focus on the main reason why you are doing this. Do exactly as they tell you and youwill be fine. Good luck! :D

Sorry to barge in on the circle of manliness, but seriously, carmelguy, you're gonna rock this shi*!!! This is the moment we've all been waiting for...this is our reset button. Its a big tool in our chest of new patterns and habits. We get a window of time to drop all the bad stuff that got us here in the first place. Its our chance to live our lives and finally be free to do things we might not have done for decades ....

We're all in this together.

Btw, are you from Carmel? Or do you have a love for misspelled creamy sweet treats from the heavens ?

(I live in Seaside...my surg is Oct 27th: Mexico, baby. If im not mistaken, there are a few support groups in the area...actually, there are groups everywhere. Interweb it.)

Good luck tomorrow, CG. YOU'LL DO GREAT :-) .

I am 4 months post op and I'm down 82 lbs, so just know that you got this and tomorrow will be the first day of your new life! Good luck and keep us updated on your progress! sleep tight!

Great to hear you are released. If you are still having the gas pains, GasX strips worked wonders for me. Good Luck

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
