Any Ithaca/syracuse Sleevers?

Recommended Posts

I don't go to the local support meetings bc I'm on one side of the lake & they are on the other, & the meeting is held just after I get out of work. I'd like to make one before I hbe surgery, but idk if it will happen. Maybe now that the semester is ending & I'll get out a little earlier....

I have found great pockets of support online, luckily. :}

I live in Constantia by the lake. I heard there is a meeting in Oswego I might try to go to also. It is cool to hear the losers stories :)

Well, I finally heard & it's not great news. I was denied bc my coordinator jumped the gun & submitted with missing pieces of information. They obviously didn't read the bulletin from Aetna which specifically states that they req 2 consecutive years wts. They only had medical records from 2009, which means I've been lied to &/or given misleading information multiple times by Aetna & my surgeons coordinator & her assistant. Last wk I had to re-request my records for my dr office (from old dr), which makes me crazy bc why did no1 realize that only having 2009 records was odd?!?? I switched drs a year ago. Im uber frustrated.

So now, we wait for the records...& hope it's not too late for the appeal...bc I've lost my trust in my coordinator at this point.

I am so sorry to hear this! You must be really upset!! :( :( I hope that you can appeal and it's successful. Seriously, it's not your fault that they didn't send the right stuff- you shouldn't be punished for it!! Grrrr!

I had RNY done today. Surgeon said my sleeve couldn't be fixed. I am tired and sore but for the first time in months I am able to sit down. Also, I dont feel nauseous! For the first time in 19 weeks!

I'm so happy to hear this!!! :) I've been so worried over your ordeal. Please stay in touch!

I'm not as upset now, but being in limbo stinks! Lol I'm on them like ink from a squid as of tomorrow; they've been ignoring me for 2 weeks. I'll go all the way to the top of Cayuga Med if that's what it takes to get a call back & straight answer from them. Come hell or high water! ;)

Good! Keep on them! I'm 10 days out from surgery and I'm doing fabulously! Moved to purée and mushy food! :D I'm 166 lbs there at the dr office. 26 lbs to my goal! Wow!!!

Hey. Things are good. I'm pretty sore. Mostly from the bruising on my tummy from the heprin shots i got in the hospital, those suck. Im not able to sleep on my side yet so that does suck im not getting much sleep. I am down from day of surgery 20lbs, but ive lost 29 since being home bc i gained 9 in the hosp from fluids. Follow up next wed the 23rd.

Those shots are the worst!!! :( it's tough at first, but it'll continue to get better. And when you're ready really work on getting all your Protein in. Makes a big difference with how you feel. :) soon you'll be sleeping better, I'm sure. I'm a tummy sleeper, and I was able to sleep like that when I got home- but a lot of people are still too sore.

      Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

      I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
      I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

      I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
