Finally Approved And Scheduled!

Recommended Posts

I'm finally approved and scheduled! I have battled with Cigna and I do mean battled for my approval. I have spent more time on the phone with Cigna and my surgeon's office than I have spent with my children in the past 3 weeks and I am the queen of complaining and getting things fixed! After being denied twice I even cited the Maryland law mandating coverage for this procedure with no luck. Finally, my surgeon had a peer to peer yesterday and now I'm scheduled for October 16th with approval! If anyone tells me I've taken the easy way out, I may just punch them ;) . liquids start Monday  and I'm looking forward to finding a spot on the losers bench!

Good luck! My best advice is to follow the rules perfectly and keep meticulous records... that way if you have to fight like I did it's easier. My surgeon told me that most people aren't like me when dealing with the insurance and it takes twice as long and twice as much work to get the denial overturned on his end. I used to work for United Healthcare so I knew what I was dealing with going in ;) .

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
