Breast Augmentation

Recommended Posts

I am about 30 pounds away from reaching my goal and I am hoping that I get to it by April, I am thinking of getting a boob job and I am interested in hearing other peoples comment about how much it cost? Where did they get it done (US or Mexico)? and how long did it take for you to recover??

Oh also about the scaring, what it bad?? Is your sensation still their???

Thank you!!

I had a boob job back in 2003 in Cincinatti for $5000. I love my boobs, i went from a B to a full D and don't regret it for one minute. I have full sensation in them and had no complications. I know it is much cheaper in Mexico and Thailand but personally I would go to Thailand and make a vacation out of it if you are concerned with $$. They are world know for their expertise in cosmetic sugery whereas Mexico not so much. It costs about $1500 for a augmentation in Thailand vs $5000-$10,000 here in the states.

I had a breast uplift this year without implants. If you find a Dr that specialises in it, he can create a lift and perkiness without implants.

Have a look around, it can save some money not needing the implants.

I had the lollypop cut which cuts around the nipple and down the breast. I didnt need the cut under the breast. If you only need implants without a lift then you can have a small cut under the breast or in your armpit.

With the uplift I never really felt pain, it was only discomfort. It feel exactly like when your milk comes in after having a baby.

Good Luck

PS - I have not regained sensation yet 8 mths later, its not looking good for it coming back either. I dont mind the results far outweigh the minute sensation I had left after breastfeeding 4 babies :P

I have had my consultation and the appointment is set for mid-November for both a lift (w/ small implant) and a Tummy Tuck. I have breastfed for over eight years and after 7 months of weaning, have NO breast tissue left. There is nothing there to "lift" except skin. I will get the implant just to have anything at all. I had 6 pregnancies with 4 live births (a.k.a. four kids) so my stomach muscles (what are those?) are gone, stretched out, ruined. My 3rd baby gave me an umbilical hernia; she did reuse my existing stretch marks which was really nice of her. The hernia will need to be repaired at the time of the tummy tuck. All in all, the quote is a little over $12K. I may spend more just to spend more time in the hospital for recovery due to having small children at home. That will increase my cost but I think it will be worth it.

This isn't good news for me... I've never had kids and believe me, I just want my "Twins" to be perky again. My doc thinks a lift without implants might do it, and I prefer not to have implants if I can avoid it - but I want to look DANG GOOD. I think I've lost too much volume for just a lift... and if I'm going to lose sensation anyway, then I figure I might as well just go all the way and have the full Hollywood look with small natural implants.

Decisions, decisions.

Would anyone go to Mexico for any cosmetic surgery???

Well, first some background.

I live conveniently located to Mexico, speak Spanish fluently and fly a lot.

Would I go to Mexico for plastic surgery (or PS)? No.

And similarly, I wouldn't be comfortable going far across this country for PS.

For me, after my Tummy Tuck, I absolutely positively needed a local doctor for follow up. Yes, I was fine, no I didn't need further hospitalization but I did need access to the doctor's office for follow-up and continued care.

It's not just a condemnation of Mexican health care (which is certainly more affordable in many cases, than comparable American care) but for me, the thought of going to get something as serious as cosmetic surgery in a foreign country (or anyplace even domestically that is far from my home). It's too much of a gamble for me.

I know everyone won't agree and I realize there are scores of patients who had great Mexican plastic surgery experiences. I just couldn't roll the dice and take a chance of being one of the few who had complications, but was far from my surgeon.

As always, I wish you good luck in your decision.

{ To answer the unasked question:

Would I go to Mexico for a LapBand surgery?

Only if Dr Rumbaut was my surgeon and even then, only if I lined up local after-care before I even made the first phone call. I'd want a local LapBand surgeon here ready to take on my care who was familiar with not just Mexican Bandsters but with Rumbaut patients. But again, that's just me.}

I agree with NewSho on this one--Unless I had a competent surgeon like Ortiz or Rumbaut doing my PS I would NOT get it done in Mexico just to save $$. The reputation there for PS just isn't that great and I wouldn't want to compromise my health. I am going to Thailand to do it IF I will need future work done down the road (tummy tuck, breast lift) after I have kids. They are known around the world for their expertise in PS and it is just as cheap as in Mexico. You would have to pay for the airfare but I would just make it a vacation beforehand....Oh, BTW alot of ppl don't lose any sensation in their breasts with implants. I don't notice a change at all, if anything they are a bit more sensitive now after my augmentation. ;)

On September 26 I had a lower body lift and breast reduction. I had my lapband 2 + years ago and have lost 120 lbs. The weight loss made my life so different but the final step in my journey has been overwhelming with emotion to see my body transform into a "new person". The actual surgery was 9 hours and has been a rough but is proving to be very rewarding. I could never have done this without the support of an outstanding surgeon who's main focus is WLS issues. His understanding of "our needs" and knowledge of plastic surgery has helped me feel secure in my decision to finish this journey to a new me. The only advise I have is that you are TOTALLY ready for the change, both physically and emotionally before taking the last step. Do your research and feel comfortable with your team of doctors. It has been a long 2.5 years and now I can say it is starting to be fun. Instead of redecorating my house I am redecorating ME. Best of luck to all!

Dr Rumbaut doesn't do plastic surgery but he strongly recommends a plastic surgeon in Monterrey - his wife and (if I remember correctly) daughter had plastic surgery performed by this surgeon. Next time I talk to him or his office I'll be sure to get the surgeon's name and post it for anyone interested. If Dr. Rumbaut trusts his wife and daughter to this surgeon, that's a pretty strong recommendation as far as I'm concerned.

Hopeone: Did you travel to your surgeon or were you able to find a WLS specialist in your area? Are you able to exercise yet? What was your pain level? Sorry for all the questions, but I'm very interested in this subject. I wish you well with your recovery and new life.

UPDATE: As of last week, my plastic surgeon now says with my continued weight loss, I'm losing further breast volume. So if I want the perkiness and roundness back... it's definitely looking as if I might have to consider implants. :phanvan That sucks - Like, gee, don't I have enough foreign objects in my body - with my "Silicone Freeloader" (my band). ??? Stay tuned.

Looks like.....by the end of summer or maybe in another 2 months, I may need a breast lift and implants. I have lost soo much volume and the perkiness is just gone. After I put on my bra or sports bra, I have to reach down into the bra and pull my breast up so that my nipples are centered, that's how bad they are. Also, breastfeeding both of my kids as well as losing 100lbs within 7 months has taken it's sweet toll on me.

Not sure when I will do this but it has to be done and I'm sad for it. I don't wan't to be the Bride of Frankenstein with all of these incisions but I have no choice. Makes you think twice about eating too much anymore. I sit sometimes and think... if I had just done pushbacks from the table and got up off of my butt and worked out..then I wouldn't have needed surgery twice this year, not to include another surgery next year.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
