Does Being On Birth Control {Hormone Based} Affect Your Weight Loss Is Any Way?

Recommended Posts

For those who begin or continued to use Hormonal based Birth Control have you noticed a slower weight loss pattern than normal with your Sleeve? I ask because I know from previous experience BC has caused me to feel bloated and pack on a few lbs~ What has your experience been like with Birth Control and being Sleeved???

FYI~ I am looking to get the Mirena IUD tomorrow~

Looking forward to hearing your experiences~

T~

I love my Mirena! I gained alot of weight on birth control pills and can thank them for my four year old surprise baby. =) My Gyno recommended Mirena because of the fewer side effects. Next spring I'll be getting my second one.

I’m posting so I can follow - I had a merina installed 3 yrs ago - LOVE the lesser periods (I still get a VERY light period) but I KNOW I was much lighter before I had it put in. It’s not supposed to cause weight gain.

I've been on the depo shot and haven't noticed any difference. Im suppose to get my next shot next Monday and Im gonna ask what she thinks would be my best option. I really like depo cuz of the decreased periods (before surgery i would get one a couple week before my next shot was due. Since surgery i haven't even had any spotting probably cuz of the weight loss).

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
