I Don't Think This Is Good...

Recommended Posts

Two months out, and I feel alright but it's hard to get food and Water in, here's why: since a month out or so I have been able to phaycally feel the acid in my stomach. Luckily it isn't coming up into my esophogus, but it's highly uncomfortable. And it has been starting to affect how much I eat and drink, but as this is happening I am not giving anything for my stomach to digest so YE acid only gets worse. Last night I was laying in bed and the acid was worse than usual, and laying down doesn't help. So in an attempt to make myself more comfortable, I sat up. Not thirty seconds later, I knew I was going to hurl. So I rushed to the bathroom and started throwing up the most bitter yellowish/clearish Fluid. It was horrible! Anyone else experienced anything like this? I know it was either stomach acid or bile (but I'm not sure which, I'm not very knowledgeable in bodily functions lol) and I would be lying if I said I wasn't scared!

are you using an antacid? Any gallbladder pain?

Problems with excess acid are common. Go talk to your doctor about getting a prescription for a good PPI (Proton Pump Inhibitor). It stops the stomach from producing acid and should help.

I had a bout with acid about two months out while sleeping. It was in the middle of the night and the acid crep up and woke my up as alittle bit went into my lung. I could feel the burn in my lung and stayed up the rest of the night in a super hot shower coughing and throwing up.

Lesson learned now I take my acid meds around 7at night seems to be working for me

Give it a shot, good luck

Before my sleeve (I'm 2 weeks post-op) I would have acid reflux frequently due to a hiatal hernia, which they fixed during my sleeve. I have found that OTC Prilosec is what really helps and have been on that for a long time. I would also have the acid a lot at night when I would lay down. I then began taking it around 4-6 pm with my dinner and the problems at night cleared up! All of this was pre-sleeve and then funny thing is that since my surgery I have not had any acid problems at all! LOL. But, my doctor will still have me on Prilosec for a while.

Gallbladder issues are common after this surgery due to your fast weight loss and change in diet... I would have your doctor check... Lots of people on the board have gone back and had theirs removed...

There is a rebound effect of extra-heavy stomach acid secretion if people stop taking PPIs so I never started them. I don't want to be on ANY pill for the rest of my life.

If my stomach feels acidy I usually have something to drink. I would use OTC antacids if it gets too bad.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
