Mastiff_Mama how are you doing since your surgery? Are you more motivated now?

I've done well. I am 7 weeks today. I've not lost a ton. 28lbs... I am down to 213 and my goal per my surgeon is 150lbs. I have no desire to go one a strick low carb diet so most days in eat right, but will still eat what I want.. Just a whole lot less!!! I am out of my clothes! I can still wear my shirts, but all my old jeans fall off! I enjoy that! I am super apple shaped and I've actually lost 4 1/2 inches around the middle! My bird legs are a lot birdier too! LOL

Abridgie I am in Greenbrier/Conway. Tell me about your experience. Were you self pay or did your insurance cover you? I have public school insurance so I have had to jump through alot of hoops for the past 6 months. I have a May 6th date. I am just worried about the consult with Dr. Baker. I don't know why.

I was worried too so I understand. I have bcbs I had to pay about 3 grand and all before surgery. Thankful my husband didn't have a heart attack and just paid it. I had to jump through hoops but it was so worth it! You'll love Courtney she's awesome

It was a piece of cake! The first 20 or so hours are fairly rough, but only the nausea... Pain wise it was pretty easy. I came home the next day and after a day I was pretty much normal! Other than eating, if course. I know at 50 I won't lose like a 25 year old. My doc says women at my age lose, but it doesn't fall off! I had a lower bmi which he says is another strike against me... But the point is... I am losing!!!!!!!

I am doing the for my 50th birthday. I want to be healthy for the next 25-50 years for my grandchildren! I know it will be hard, but I am willing to do it. A teacher I work with had the sleeve surgery on March 19th. He had 0 pain, 0 nausea, he is doing great! I want to be that way too.

Dr Baker usually keeps you in 3 days 2 nights. My worst pain was gas pressure & walking helps! Pain pump was nice as well. To me it's a minimal amount of pain for what we gain

You have lost 76 lbs since December!!! Wow!!! Ok so I should prepare to stay at least 2 nights. I weigh 242 and my BMI is 39. I would love to lose down to 150, and I would love to do it in 6 months. BUT I will take my time and do what I am suppose to.

I would say more like 8-12 months just remember it took a while to put on. I lost 30 lbs the first 3 weeks. Get a good blender too cause the first 2-3 months everything is blended

Everything I've read says these first 6 months are the most important for losing and then the rest of your life to maintain.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
