Approved :-) Appeal Submitted Uhc

My surgeon office didn't fax all paperwork needed within 2week time frame and I got denied on Sept 4. I didn't cry...I wanted to because I have been seeing doctor since Nov! I even had to switch surgeons! So I am exhausted and want surgery by now. I just joined and started to write on forum about my frustration being denied and while I was typing my surgeons office called and said I was approved!! I'm ecstatic! But my appointment to get my date is not until October 4th! I'm going to start my liquid diet Monday and hopefully he will give me a sooner date!! I pray!!

Hang in there. The whole pre-op part is so difficult! All of it! Before you know it, you'll be being wheeled into the operating room!

October 4 is only 2 weeks away! You are right on schedule, since the liquid diet is suppose to be for 2 weeks pre-op... I am scheduled for October 1...my goal was to be scheduled by the end of September...so I am happy :) ... good luck to you!

Congrats, the first 2 weeks pre op is the hardest thing you will ever do. I am feeling great down 180 lbs since 3-21-12

Good luck to you as well!! I won't find out my surgery date until the 4th but hopefully if I am already on pre op he will not make me wait two more weeks... Wishful thinking!!

Congratulations! The waiting game is always so difficult. Your Re-birth Day will be here before you know it. I've been waiting since 1-1/2 yrs ago for Medicare to come through. I'll be recovering from a total knee replacement while you melt away. Take care Anders us know how you're coming along!

Thank you soo much! I was worried because I have UHC NJ Medicaid I thought it would be a tedious process getting insurance approval but thank God it really wasn't that bad!! But hang in there and keep appealing! Good Luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
