Thank you. I am getting a single incision. Doctor said I will have 1-2 incisions, first one in the belly bottom. Next up is the pre-op liquid diet!

I'm supposed to get single as well. Although dr said I'm on the cusp for height. He may get in there and can't do it. I said as long and I'm safe I don't care how he does it. 1-2 5-7 whatever.

Im having mine on oct 11th. Really nervous. Had initially planned on the band but surgeon said if i wanted this would be a really good option for me. How did you decide?

@Joy1961. I decided to have the sleeve after reviewing all of my options and doing a lot of research about the band, RNY and sleeve. Although the sleeve is new in the U.S., it is said that it may become the gold standard for weightless surgery in the future. I didn’t choose the band b/c I have seen people successfully lose that weight, however vomit after they eat quite often. It may be that they are eating too fast or not eating the right thing. Also, the band is a foreign object in your stomach which can cause erosion in the long term. RNY re-routes how the food is digested. Also, I know several people that have gained weight back after the RNY, because they did not change their eating habits after the honeymoon phase. I think the Sleeve is the best choice for me because I will be able to digest my food the same, just smaller amounts. I also think the sleeve will serve as a tool to help me change my eating habits. Good luck on your surgery and have a great recovery and weightless journey.

Hi Joy! I'm also going on10/11. I let my surgeon tell me about all options and we decided the VSG was the best fit for me due to digestion issues (he didnt want to involve cutting the intestines) and history of success in weight loss, but not in maintenance or obtaining goal. The lap band wasn't an option, I have 2 coworkers who lost weight at first, maybe half-way to goal, then they started to gain weight. That's the story of my life! I am scared, yet so excited to have this done!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
