Things I Don't Want To Worry About...

Recommended Posts

I started a blog years ago to "document" my weight loss as I progressed and it obviously was a total failure. However, looking back now at some of the posts, it is so amazing how what I was feeling years ago is exactly how I feel right now. I'm just beginning my WLS journey but look forward to crossing the items below off my list. Here was my list on October 24, 2011:

1) Sitting in fold out/up chairs...you know the ones everyone brings to baseball games? Yea, I've broken 2 of those in my life time. Actually come to think of it, I have broken 4 chairs in recent years.

2) Going to sound crazy but I fear breaking the toilet seat! When I sit down, it's a loud thud and it scares me.

3) My behind showing...guess I could just wear appropriate jeans but my thighs always make me buy a bigger size!

4) Airplane seats!!! AHHHH! Last time I flew, I literally had to pull as hard as I could to make that buckle fit...

5) Following #4, rollercoaster rides. I think one of the lowest points of my life was not being able to fit in the "big" seats at a ride in Universal Studios. In front of 2 of my friends. Needless to say, awful day...but as with anything, I knew at that moment I had 2 friends supporting me for life.

Anyone experience any of these?!

I don't want to worry about hiding every time the camera comes out

I agree about the airline seats and the tray never being able to lay flat!!!! We fly alot and I will be glad to see how it feels in Dec when I fly next. Hoping there will be a great difference!

I will also be ready to use a regular sized towel to wrap around me. I have been using a beach towel that barely did the trick but I can honestly say that it is already fitting better since my surgery 10 days ago! NSV!

Oh my, I feel the same way about the towels! Also, going to hotels, sometimes I couldn't fit the hotel rooms around me, especially my arms. Looking forward to wearing those puppies (even though they might be dirty from other people) also!

Have you had a chance to peruse the "non scale victories" page? I think that will ease your mind a bit on whether others feel that way or not :D We all do!! They may vary, but each of us have ones that bother us. It is amazing how awesome it feels when you realize that you have stopped worrying about those. It is even better than hitting number goals!

How funny. Here is what I wrote in 2010. I too failed but I will not fail this time!

Ride Again 2010--And so it begins…

I wear my Ariat boots proudly as I feel they identify me as part of a special community. I recognize others in this elite community by their footwear, by their muddy late model trucks and SUVs, and the hay chaff that inevitably sticks to clothes and hair.

As each pair of boots ware out I buy another, foolishly hoping that new laces will secure my membership in this adopted family. With each pair of boots the laces get tighter and my membership within this family feels more tenuous.

But still, I am a horsewomen. I am an equestrian or, as my husband calls me, a “horse jockey.” I am willing to go without that new car to pay for my membership. And damn it, I have earned this membership. I have a good understanding of equine behavior, equine needs, and a thirst for knowledge regarding anything that has to do with the horse. I love the people I have met within my community (or most of them anyway) and enjoy the presence of barn dogs and cats more than most. I am an equestrian although, in truth, I have not been on a horse in years. I am an equestrian and I do not ride because I weigh 356 pounds.

I write because writing gives me a leg up. It is my hope that I land in a saddle that will take me closer to my lives purpose. I hope to document an incredible journey, a journey toward health, happiness and horse. This voyage will often be uphill and painful and wrought with challenges. It is an expedition that, at its end, will bring me closer to family, friends and ultimately my true self. Because regardless of my weight, I am a horsewomen and I will no longer deny myself what is essentially my life’s blood. ! I am coming back to the fold, or in this case, the herd. At the end of this journey I will be on a damn horse

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
