I burp too much**is that normal**

Recommended Posts

I was never a burper before surgery, now (9weeks after surgery) I burp every time I eat. I think it is like drinking from a water bottle and you have to let the air in for the Water to come out. Because there is a non expandable hole now, the air has to come up for the food to go down. That is what it seems like on the fluoroscope, the liquid lifts up, then slides through.....just my theory.

I feel the need to burp also. Sometimes I will move just right and its like this long air bubble not a -burp but a ------urp. It's hard to explain. it is like someone put a pipe in and a steady release is let out....

I know exactly what you mean. Since I got banded I have done that a few times. It is actually really releaving. I welcome any and all burp's....as long as there all air :nervous

I also have been hiccuping lately too. I'm starting to learn the burning belch means 'OOPS' I've eaten a wee bit too much. I also learned that if I spit out my saliva when I'm belching, it helps me stop sooner.:hungry:

If I nibble rather than bite-and-chew something then I don't seem to get the burps. But I fart all the time. Reach for the TV remote, oops there one goes. Bend over - try not to stand down-wind. Stretch, yawn, smile... you name it and I fart. I wonder if it's because I've had my gall bladder removed?

This would be an interesting study. Amount of burping correlated with PB's. HMMM excellent question.

I burp regularly. Not excessively or loudly, but comfortably and boy what a relief it is sometimes.

When I was first banded, my surgeon kept telling me (if I had problems) that I'd probably swallowed too much air and "since I couldn't burp anymore" it was stuck in there causing me pain. When I told him that I burp all the time he was flabberghasted.

Magic, maybe you swallow a lot of air when you eat. We all have our own "style" so to speak of chewing and swallowing. Maybe your own personal process combined with your own personal anatomy results in taking some air down with it. Just a thought.

I will have a soft burp once in a while. I think it's usually cause I gulped too much at one. Same thing with hiccups. I get them now and again. They are real quiet and I know I've had enough to eat.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
