I had my band removed on 9-10-12 (thank god) BUT all this time complaining that it didn't work and now it's out I feel like I've lost a major part of my life. For seven years (7 years!!!) I trained myself not to like pizza or subs or Chinese food simply because I just could not tolerate them. Even though I was at a stand still with my band I still wasn't gaining any weight. Well, now that it's out I thought to myself let's try a little piece of pizza annnnd what do you know? HEAVEN! Yeah for about five minutes. Then I was quickly reminded why I shouldn't eat all that crap. Here comes the nausea heartburn indegestion... Dear lord. Had the band out for a little over a week had some fun, now back to reality. Muscle milk shakes and low carb high Protein is in store for me now until October 22 when I am finally sleeved!!! And hopefully I can lose an extra 10 by then, crossing my fingers!! My advice is NOT WORTH IT!!! Lol

Ive had my band for about 7 years as well! I am currently talking to my surgeon about getting it out and getting sleeved!!

I wish I could do it in 2 surgeries but I think it'll be too expensive (self-pay).

I am excited for you!

I can totally relate! I had my band 4 yrs & hadnt touched bread, Pasta, potatoes or the like since-not even eggs would go 'down'. I had my band to vsg revision surgery a wk ago tomorrow...when I woke up-they gave me back my band-creepy-but it made me realize just what I had been dealing with...I've had no issues since my revision...never took a pain pill, not even for the 4 hr plane ride home. My Dr says I can start puréed anytime now, tho I'm a bit apprehensive...this is the longest I've gone without 'sliming, urping'...so, I'll wait a few more days & stay with the liquids. Good luck to u guys!! I already feel better havin the sleeve as opposed to the band. :)

I'm really clueless about bands. Can someone explain to me briefly why people have revisions? Why is the band so awful? I'm being nosey, that's all. :-)

Thanks!

I just had issues with mine-had a leak @ 1 point, my port wasnt sec correctly, so it was always hit & miss for a fill-dealt with overfills & underfills, was dropped by ins @ 1 point ( medically unrelated)...I did well the 1st yr & a 1/2, but then I wasn't able to tolerate good foods anymore...when all ur living on is slider foods-its horrible. Once I'm healed, a friend asked me what is it I so want to eat-anything-the most decadent treat ever...my reply-I want to taste a green pepper...

Seriously? That sounds awful! No wonder people are switching. What a pain, physically & mentally, that must be! Thanks. I've been kinda hesitant to ask. Didn't want to seem rude.

With the band, healthier foods weren't going down for me - like vegetables. Carbs, otoh, went down easily. Not great for a weight loss tool. My port shifted, then the area got infected. They removed my band and did my sleeve in the same surgery. I only had the band for 2 years and lost weight at first, but after a while it did nothing and just made me throw up a lot. Glad it's out.

Well my wonderful band, hint of sarcasim, will be leaving me October 17th. I've had problems when filled to much. So much that I had it empty for long time. I've had this since 2007, I am down 190 pounds. The last like 90 was not because of band. I was looking into plastics and my rn friend who turned coordinator, told me needed to get the band out before. Because it is not if the band will fail but when. So in less than a month I will say goodbye to not only my band but 85 percent of my stomach. Getting a little nervous can I go through this eating / drinking my meals again... Holidays aren't problem except for the explanations I have to come up with as to why I am not eating. I hate waiting so must come up with an activity to pass the time. Life is great... looking forward the last 50 pounds to get off the ole body...

my band will be removed before the end of the year. i've had him for 4.5 years. i lost ALL my excess weight but it was because i was throwing up all the time. i just found out in august that my band had slipped. i have mixed emotions. i lost a lot of weight with the band but not in a healthy way. since i've had all the Fluid removed from the band, i've gained 20 pounds. i can't wait to have it removed and have the revision!

I had my band for 18 months.it was true hell. Couldn't eat out because of the slimming n vomiting. Only slider foods at first would go down then nothing! It was the worst 18 months. I am 12 days post op with the sleeve n just don't know for the life of me why I didn't do this first!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
