Plateau And Small Weight Gain

Recommended Posts

Hi there everyone! I'm new here and very interested in hearing from everyone on their experiences. I had the band put in back in 2007 and ended up having it removed in 2010 due to a slip. I then had it put back in 6 months later only to have major complications. In March of this year I ended up having to get an emergency gastrectomy (90% removal) due to stomach lacerations caused by ulcers.

My weight loss was rapid for the first 4 months then it just stopped. I went from 206 to 156 and I have been pretty stagnent with my weight loss until recently. I just started to gain weight and I'm now up to 163.8 which is freaking me out. I'm only eating about 800 calories and I eat only fish and veggies and almonds. I recently began jogging so I'm not sure what's going on and I'm feeling like I'm failing! Any advice or words of encouragement?

Maybe you're gaining muscle? How are your clothes fitting?

There is no change in the way my clothes are fitting. I feel some muscle in my arms but I have so much saggy skin in my stomach and legs that it's hard to tell if I'm gaining muscle. I definitely don't feel like I am.

Your diet seems ok. I hope you mean raw almonds not roasted almonds which are very fattening.

Also please remember that 10 raw almonds put you at about 100 cals.

Drink more Water, and up your metabolism through exercise.

It will come off, trust in yourself.

Thanks Zeus. I have actually tried to cut back on the almonds lately but I have been eating the wasabi & soy flavor by Blue Diamond. They have 170 cal per 28 nuts. Not sure of the fat but I will def switch to raw from now on. Being stuck at 163 for 2 months is disheartening because I have been doing all the right things and im less than 10 lbs from goal. Im just getting scared that I'm going to gain all my weight back. This journey us just an emotional roller coaster! Lol!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
