Yea! But I Do Have A Gross Question.

Recommended Posts

It happened! Last week I got authorization from my insurance. And today I got my surgery date.... October 22, 2012! Too excited to be nervous yet. But I do have a question for all you post ops. At some time down the line, I'm bound to get the stomach flu. Just how does the throwing up in that kind of situation work? I mean the stomach will be so small, but with the flu, you vomit so much. I realize this is a bizarre question and totally putting the cart before the horse, but I'm just that kind of girl.

Questions, questions, questions!

It would suck,do like most people do and get a flu shot.. Ive never ever had the flu,so I couldn't help you other than to tell you you would have to be more diligent in getting your fluids in,more so when you're sick

I thought the same thing. I'm at the beginning stages with this process. Since I have little ones at home I got a flu shot. I'm already a crazy person washing and sanitizing my hands so hopefully it will pass me by this year.

I haven't had the stomach flu, but I imagine it works the same, you just have less volume to throw up. The one time that I have thrown up I ended up dry heaving at the end. Flu shot is a fantastic idea to get - but it protects against influenza (respiratory) rather than gastroenteritis (stomach). I don't think there's a lot you can do to protect against stomach flu except good handwashing and whatnot.

I had a bout or two, I USED to have dry heaves for agonizing minutes as my stomach cramped and tried to squeeze every last bit of bile out of my poor tummy. The times I've had it post-op I threw up a small mouthful of vomit and it was over, I can dare say it was a "better" experience post-vsg than prior.

That's just my experiences may vary.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
