Post Op September Sleevers, Roll Call

Every time I see pizza on tv I drool. Man, I am dying for a slice of pizza! Haven't tried Cereal. The nutritionist told me if I wanted to have oatmeal, that's fine but to remember that's about 25 grams of carbs and she wants me to keep it to 25-50 carbs a day. I can't even think of carbs right now, I'm still trying to get used to eating some kind of food and get the Protein and drink the Water. egg salad works, had that this weekend, ate too much too fast and felt sick. I'm frustrated with this scale too. I seem to go down, and then gain a pound or two. I don't know how that can be since I maybe eat 1 1/2 - 2 cups of food a day between cottage cheese, yogurt and refried Beans, and have a Protein Shake, herbal teal and water. Must be my weird body adjusting to all this but it sure is frustrating. Guess I should stay off the scale for a week, but that's hard. I'm going to try and integrate the walking this week. Other than going to work last week and walking around my house, haven't done that. Just haven't had the energy. Maybe that'll help. Tomorrow is 3 weeks since surgery day.

Really? 25-50 carbs a day? See that sounds normal to me. I was told that once I start eating again, about 90 carbs a day. Freaks me out!! I was diabetic before my surgery. Not on insulin, but on metformin. So I've done the Atkins with the very low carbs. I think when I start eating real food again, I wll be freaking out. 15-20 carbs per meal. and 7 per snack. Still sounds like a lot to me. I still think regular food, protein and veggies is the best for all people.

And pizza? Oh yeah, thin crust pizza sounds soooo good.

Maybe add some strength training. And don't weigh yourself for 2 weeks (i know that's hard...nearly impossible). But as you build muscle, you will increase your metabolism. And that should help with the scale. But not right away. Remember, muscle weighs more than fat.

My surgery was on the 13th.

I see the surgeon on Friday and I hope he advances me to the next stage. I've been good not cheated once so you can imagine how I feel.

Lucky you that you are already on stage 3. I guess all dr.s are so different.

OMG! I just realized that I don't like the taste of plain Water. Which is weird cause before surgery I would drink up to a gallon of plain water a day. The taste makes me almost throw up. What I've been doing is I make tea and drink as much possible. Wow never thought I wasn't going to like water. Is anyone going thru the same thing?

soooo i am totally in that 3rd week stall everyone talks about. I havent lost ANYTHING in about a week and only 11 lbs since surgery. Oh well i can def see a different in inches and stuff (i recommend everyone do this if you havent already taken your measurements)...AND i shopped at target yesterday as they had some cute dresses and up to size 18 in the reg dept. guess what...they fit!!! I was normally a 20/22 depending on brand and style.

As for food i still havent had any hunger pains but im eating almost normal. I tried a piece of bread and it was heavenly. I am up to about 4oz of food at a time and having no issues getting Water in (i also do not need to take tiny sips anymore). Everything is still really sweet to me and i tried a bite of icecream and it made me slightly feel sick so I figure i have to wait awhile for anything sweet (not a bad thing). Last night for dinner i cooked 4 oz ground turkey, put 1/4 cup of marinara and melted a laughing cow into it. Was soooooooooooo good almost like having lasagna minus the noodles. Yum!!!

So far no complaints and even my head hunger is better. Now if just this stall would end...i do get to start the gym this week so that should help!

Is anyone else able to take in more Water at a time than food? Cause I'm freaking out that I stretched out my stomach. But I'm hoping and praying it's just that water kind of slides right through. I mean, I'm not guzzling it. But I can drink a good 8 oz in an hour or less. But if I try to do that with Soup, I want to throw up. Yeah, that wasn't fun.

Just wondering if it's just a water thing. That water is so "thin" that it just goes through like a "Baby Alive". Anyone else having this thing?

Oh and I got way hungry today, but was busy so forgot about it, then it came back. But no grumblies or anything, just a, well I'm not sure, just a hunger pang maybe, a hurt in my stomach. Any one else having to re-learn how you feel when you're hungry?

Water goes down so easy, you can drink a lot of that because it pretty much goes right thru, which is why I guess they keep telling me to eat, and then not drink anything for at least 40 minutes or so, so I don't wash the food out of my stomach and overeat. I have felt hungry, but it's different, although once I really think I needed to eat, it seemed like my blood sugar took a dip and I needed some sustenance. I'm trying to put something in my stomach every 3 hours. I don't want my metabolism to stall out completely. At work I go a bit longer than that sometimes, maybe 4 hours. Or I drink a Protein Drink.< /p>

I still get confused how to tell when I'm hungry LOL I'm trying to just stick to 'eating' something every 3 hours like my doctor told me and it seems to be working. I DID figure out that when Elvira (my sleeve's name) is getting full I burp. LOL that oughta be interesting when I go back to work tomorrow hahaha

Today is day 10 I guess.. sleeved on the 14th. Anyway I'm on full liquids and doing fine with them, definitely now I can feel a little restriction where I couldn't feel anything on clear liquids.. I think the clears just kinda go right thru and full liquids it takes longer maybe. I'm told that once we advance to more solid-ish foods we will feel more restriction and get better at being able to tell when we are full.

I'm down 21 lbs since surgery!!!! YAY! I lost ZERO pounds on the pre op diet LOL yep you read that right. Story of my life.. it's why I got sleeved in the first place. I can't explain it but Elvira is working! I haven't had any pain or nausea and have been able to sleep on my stomach since the night after surgery. I'm just grateful I'm one of the ones who's had a relatively easy recovery from surgery! Oddly the head hunger is getting better, the first prob 4 or 5 days after I got home from the hospital all I could think about was cheeseburgers and pizza and diet coke and all the other stuff we can't have. Now I'm just going about my day and even though something looks or smells good it's no big deal. I hope it stays that way for awhile hahahahaha

Anywhooooo, so glad to have all you guys on here, what a great support we have!

Maybe I'll try the crystal light. Sound better than plain water.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
