Almost One Week Post Op.

Recommended Posts

Had my sleeve done on 09/12/12. I lost 11 pounds Pre op and have lost an additional 14 since. My i weighed 340 on May 22,12 which is the day that my wife had Gastric Bypass. When I couldn't walk 50 feet on level ground without getting chest pain or short of breath it was so aggravating. I started watching my calories then. Lost a total of 31 pounds. I had my initial consult for a sleeve in February of this year. It's been quite a journey thus far. I weighed 318 for my consult then gained 22 pounds then lost 31 before I signed my surgical consents. When I started my Pre op I weighed 312 day of surgery I weighed 306 and at 6 days post op weight is 292. I must say to step on the scale and be under 300 is a accomplishment. I had thoughts that I made the worst mistake of my life but thankfully my wife is now 4 monts post op and is right by my side. This liquid diet is pretty brutal both physically and mentally. I'd like to be around 180. Just wanted to share my story so far.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
