Weight Goal Challenge For New Year's Day

Recommended Posts

We have entered into the "ember" months! Which for me means having to always keep my weight in check... so much rich sweet foods and less working out due to the outside coldness. Well I'm absolutely DETERMINED to change this habit this year.

Who's with me?

My challenge to all of you is to have some kind of weight scale goal to reach by January 1st. I being at goal will make mine very minimal. The reason being I'm not really interested in losing weight per se, but being around the same weight by the time this Winter Season ends. So my goal will be to weigh 165 Lbs. Sounds excellent to me! =) Who else is on board with me? I'm looking for some Ole Timers to join in as well!! =))

Typically in challenges like this most will keep checking in and mentioning how much they have lost. I HIGHLY ENCOURAGE THIS!! I will probably not check in as much since I'm already at goal. But I will be checking in to cheer all of you on who are trying to lose more weight.

ALL THIS SAID, please remember it is good to challenge yourself - however it is NOT good to beat yourself up if you're not losing as fast as you would like. Our bodies will lose the weight at it's own rate. The important thing is, is to keep eating healthy, drinking plenty of Water, and giving our bodies physical activity. As long as you're doing this, you WILL lose the weight.

Good luck!! :)

Ok, I'm in. I'm also in the Halloween contest. I would like to be 135 (goal) or a size 6 by December 31st, whichever comes 1st. I'm 166.6 so 31.6 lbs to go in 3 1/2 months. I think I can do it. I'm also training for a half marathon so my fitness goal is also to run 10 miles without stopping and at least a 12 minute mile. I'm only up to 4 1/2 miles at 13 minutes. I have a ways to go. If i keep running tge weight should hopefully come off.

Good luck everyone!!!

Whatever goal you're shooting for, make sure to subtract five pounds if you're planning to party like it's 1999 on New Year's Eve.

Awesome!! All of you have fantastic goals. The main goal though should be to continue to work hard during the Holidays. We have so many reasons to give excuses on why we should have a little bit of this or that. However, it's best to avoid making those excuses. Especially if you are pre-op or less than 6 months post-op. Trying to lose as much as you can in that amount of time will prove to be beneficial and in time all of you will find out why.

Good luck to all!!! I'm working on mine! My husband and I just completed a 5K yesterday. The Run to Remember honoring Firefighters and Law Enforcement and in Remembrance of 9/11. It was a great time! I was far ahead of my Husband throughout the whole race, but I got sidetracked and he ended up racing at the end and beat me by about 10 second... LMAO!! Funny thing is that was his first 5K event ever!

I did some jogging and walking. We both finished under 47 Minutes, and really for me that's not bad considering I haven't ran in awhile. I pushed myself big time. My Husband told me I have a lot of power though and he did struggle a lot to overcome me. I'm extremely proud of him though. :)

We are going to start over with the Couch to 5K because as I told him, the next event we do, we are going to Run it.

This is such a great thread! I am scheduled for surgery on Wednesday (Sept 12th) so I've started making some mini goals to help along the process. For NYE, I would like to be 225 lbs. I'm at about 300 lbs right now so I hope that is achievable. I turn 30 on January 12th (exactly 4 months out of surgery) and I would LOVE to go skydiving. Looking it up, some of the websites say you the max you can be is 220 lbs so I'm hoping to get there by my birthday.

This challenge will help!!! Thanks again for starting :-)

copying over from MFP...

Yay! I want to join too! I have a few goals, I would like to be 117 lbs by 1/1 - that is around 6 lbs. I am in a normal BMI just barely and want to be more solid. I want to enjoy the holidays (I was on a feeding tube last year) but not go overboard. I want to continue to walk at least 5 days a week. This week I began taking my lunch at 10:30 and 2 breaks together at 1:30 and walking about a mile on one - would like to do it on both. I know once it starts getting dark earlier it will be too easy to just not walk at night!

Keeping up with it!! I've recently been getting back to my 100% workouts. Only thing is I need to get back on my strength training. I have not been doing that nearly enough. I like cardio so much more, but I know I need both.

I'll do it! Someone got some nice steel toe boots to kick me in arse with?

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
