How Much Do I Exercise?

Recommended Posts

May seem a silly questions...but still. How much should I be exercising now? I go in for my 6month the end of September now. I feel great and am currently doing 3 times a week in the gym, about an hour to an hour and a half per visit. Should I be doing 5 days a week in the gym? I'm stil losing weight, not at the rocket pace I started at, but I'm told thats normal. What are your thoughts or how you all do it?

Right now I have it split up.....30min of cardio, walking, jogging, eliptical...I switch it up, the rest of the time is weights.

I'm 3 months out, I do 1/2 hr of circuit training 3 days a week, then 1/2 hr exercise bike 1 day, and 3 mile walk one day, then play with my kids on the weekend and call that my cardio.

I also have a very physical job that requires a lot of walking, pulling and heavy lifting, so, that wraps up my program.

Im about a year out & ever since I was allowed to go back post op Ive went at least 5 days wk (some weeks Ill go all 7 days but I wouldn't recommend it, Im just addicted). I started out with 1 hr visits but now go for about 1.5 hrs per visit splitting the time between cardio (elliptical) & weights. One week Ill do low weight hi reps (burn fat) the next Ill to higher weight fewer reps (build muscle).

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
