Maybe try getting some sleep. I found that when I got some serious sleep after the surgery, I felt better physically and mentally. I took Ambien and slept like a rock. I felt like a new person the next day. I also had a massage and sat in the steam room a long time. I highly recommend it. The massage helped me turn the corner.

hi guys! i was sleeved 1 week ago tomorrow and i am so depressed! im already on prozac and klonopin. i keep thinking WHAT DID I DO TO MYSELF? i had plenty of valid reasons going in but now im wondering if i did the right thing. i have basically no support system and feel very lonely! it would be nice to have some fellow sleevers as friends but its hard enough finding regular friends! no i dont live in the middle of nowhere, im in san antonio FYI. physically im feeling really well and handle surgery and recovery like a champ. this depression is kicking my butt! can anyone relate or offer words of advice? i will be going to a psychiatrist very soon because depression bites!

You aren't alone. I have been having a rocky time too. Lately it's been more good than bad, but I had a couple really depressing weeks there for a bit. I am certain a fair amount of it (if not the majority of it) is hormones. You are probably having the same issue. When I saw my psychiatrist last month she said she had no problem going up on my mood stabilizer for a while until I was ready to come back down. I know if I go through another rocky period like that I'll be taking her up on her offer. If you need someone to chat with or even just to vent to, you are more than welcome to message me. I'm always looking to make new friends. Most of all - don't give up! It will get better.

Hi! I was also sleeved 1 week tomorrow and I'm soooo depressed. I cry over anything but the main thing is I gained 8lbs right after surgery. :( I have only lost 3lbs of that. I just upsets me so much that I did this and Its not going to work for me. I'm not eating other than my protien shake and sf Jello and sf pudding made with my protien shake mix. I might not be getting all my Water but every thing else I'm doing like my dr. told me to do. I hear so many people that's lost 10lbs the first week and I'm still 5lbs up. What I'm I don't wrong? I also take zoloft and I'm ready to double my dose just to get though this. Thanks Belinda

Belinda - sometimes our bodies are just downright mean, aren't they? =p All those IV fluids have got your retaining tons of water it sounds like. I just wanted to second what everyone else said - it will come off. Your body is just being goofy. As hard as it is, it's best to try your best not to compare yourself to others. I know, I'm totally guilty of it too - but it just gets us down and there's nothing we can do about how our body loses aside from following the plan. It sounds like you are doing great, and I can't wait to hear about the pounds starting to fall off soon for you =)

AWW I'm sorry that would suck big time. I haven't had a period in 5 years either. Wow I hope I don't wake up to that. I'm 1 week post op so hopefully I got though that. I wish you luck!

I'm in San Antonio too... I was sleeved Aug 24th.....I've been going through the "what have I done" all week. Especially going out and seeing what people are eating at my son's football game and at dinner after church. I think we will feel better when we get to the stage where we can eat regular food. Right now I feel like I am missing all the good things but what keeps me going is knowing just a few more weeks and I'll be able to eat those things too. Maybe not as much as I used to but none should eat as much as i used to. You'll get through this....we both will. I promise :) message me anytime :)

I was sleeved on the 23rd. This morning I had a tiny omelet and a few bites of banana yogurt and lunch was about a half dollar sized hamburger with pickle, a little lettuce and onion. Yummy and I am full and feel great. I know I am pushing it a little but my doc said the only way to know if I tolerate it is try it. So far I have never been nauseous or vomited. I started with greek yogurt with grated parmesan cheese and some dry ranch dressing. Sometimes i add some salsa verde and refried black Beans (so good). I also found a canned chilli with only 7 grams of fat and 17 grams of Protein. I can't eat enough to get all the protein but it is good with a teaspoon of plain greek yogurt which adds some protein as well. Don't know if this fits your tastes or how much you can tolerate but I hope it helps. Also check out eggface.com for good recipes and ideas.

OMG that has been the worst for me. I gained 18 pounds after surgery!! I am now 7 days post-op and am just starting to lose it.

Believe me, I hate to read all these people losing 25 lbs at their 1st week followup appt, but I have no choice but to keep on doing what I'm doing.

I too have been worried that this won't work for me.

Thx to everyone for sharing. I was sleeved on 8/29, gained 6 pounds after surgery, and have been stuck in some depression. Reading your comments has given me perspective and lifted my mood.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
