I am getting ready to have surgery on Spet 25.

I am having a bad time finding a powder Protein Powder that does not taste like crap.

I also wish I could find a site on the internet that might sell different kinds.

I had a friend tell me about pea Protein powder has anyone used this?

What are some good reciped or sited you could reccomend with post op diets/ What did you eat for the first 2 weeks

I am stressing I feel like I need to find more info out???

Good luck on your surgery! Im like you, i had a hard time finding something I liked. Here is what I did because its better to get the Protein in you then dislike everything.

I made mine in a smoothie form: strawberry advantage edge, about 5 frozen strawberries, 1/2 strwbry yoplait light yogurt, greek yogurt, 1 cup of ice. Blended it all & ate/drank on it for several hours.

After doing this for a few weeks I Removed the yoplait light yogurt but kept the other ingriedients & actually liked it. But i had to work my way into removing the yogurt. Maybe try it & see if you like it. You can do all flavors & easy to get at Walmart.< /p>

Congrats we have the same surgery day. There is a forum I think in pre op for protein and there are a lot of suggestions there. I had ordered samples from injury just google it. I like the premier shakes from costco I think they have them at SAM club or the website. Friday I ordered sample packs for chike and nectar. They have a variety in the packs so you can try without buying the whole container. Vitamin Shoppe have some samples and the single ready to drink shakes. I have gone to the the gas stations they have rtd shakes I found syntha 6 and that was good. I have my pre op nutrition class Tuesday. I know after surgery my dr office have shakes called Z pro 25 that you have to drink. But Tuesday I might get a sample and try it. I hope this help.

Here's the diet and shopping list we were given for the first 90 days after surgery http://xnet.kp.org/misg/bariatrics/after.html

I did like the Premiere Protein Shakes in Choclate from costco and Sam's.

Protein powder taste seems to vary wildly. What one person likes, another can't tolerate. Many Vitamin stores (GNC, Vitamin Shoppe) will give you sample packets so you can try many brands. They also have websites. I personally like Unjury. I've also heard great things about Max Protein. I had to try a few before I found one I liked. Having one you actually like, not just tolerate, will help a lot during your journey. Best of luck. :)

Chike Protein powder is pretty good. I have only been able to find it online and we ordered a sample variety pack first. So far, we have liked each flavor in the pack and my husband does not prefer protein powder drinks.

I also like the pure protein fench vanilla and Cookies and creme!

I personally love About Time powder because it has very few ingredients and has a mild taste. Wal-Mart also sells a brand in tubs that's pretty tasty (can't remember the name but a big tub costs less than $20. Syntrax nectar is also really good and you can get sample packets at GNC and Vitamin Shoppe. And as another poster mentioned, there is a pinned thread in the Protein Powder and shake section that have several website where you can order sample packs.

Good luck! It can seem overwhelming, but you will find something you at least tolerate. Hopefully love.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
