9 Months Post Op And New To The Boards!

Recommended Posts

Hello! My name is Brittany. I am a 25 year old mother of 2 beautiful girls, I work and am in graduate school. I had my surgery last year on 11/23/11 (the day before Thanksgining). It has been one of the best decisions of my life. I have been lurking on these boards since before I had surgery and have finally decided to stop being antisocial and join already! I glad to be a part of the group now!

I'm glad too! This has been an amazing experience so far and I'm glad I'll be able to share it with you kind folks ;) I am thrilled having 95 pounds gone forever and I look forward to meeting my ultimate goal of losing 1/2 my body weight in the near future. In the mean time, 100 pound loss is so close I can taste it!

My diet has been pretty standard. Trying to get in fluids (although I could be much better), eat Protein when possible (although I am not nearly as strict as some others as I love Pasta lol) try to remember to take all of my Vitamins every day, and stay away from junk foods (although once in a blue moon I might have a handful of flaming hot cheetos lol). I find that when I do follow those guidelines I do feel much better. I was a serial dieter before the sleeve and now I feel like I eat like a thin person does. I eat well most of the time but I'm not afraid to indulge occasionally. When I do indulge, it is delicious and not shameful. Now that I am a bit futher out and closer to my goal (so close yet so far lol) I have to be a little more strict to sustain regular weightloss but nothing too intense. I hope that answers your question! And I am sure you will find all the success you desire as well!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
