Any Regrets Losing The Band

Recommended Posts

Hello, i was banned in 2007 and o will be sleeved 9/5. As the tome is coming closer, i am getting nervous. Does anyone regret having the band replaced with the sleeve. Btw, i was not successful at all with the band. Same issue with throwing up and slimming and not being able to eat the right food, always hungry, etc.

I was banned in 11/09 and got it taken out 02/12 and got the sleeve 05/12, I miss my band because it made me be so much more restrictive on what and how I ate, I was successful with it losing 90 pounds but I was very disciplined. I had problems from the beginning, I was always going in to have Fluid taken out and still struggled with getting food down and not stuck, turns out the band had slipped big time, so out it came. The sleeve doesn't restrict the types of food I eat, like I can eat bread and pastas and they go down fine, I can eat faster and nothing is going to get stuck but I get full fast and usually only eat 1/4c at a time but I'm hungry every 2hours. Even with the problems of the band, I miss it because it made me control myself.

No I don't miss that thing at all! I love feeling "normal" & not having to worry about of my food is going to get stuck. I honestly wish I had NEVER had that lap-band-- EVER!

Good luck to you on your upcoming surgery!

more relief than regret....I wish I had the courage to have VSG done earlier....I love the fact I can eat grapes and apples again.....it feels wonderful to be able to not worry about whether the band will let me eat at a particular time....

I just love my sleevie!

I had my band placed 9/4/08...lost close to 90 lbs, but ALWAYS had issues & discomfort. Within the last yr & 1/2, the dreaded weight is back-I've grown tired of always havin to sit near a bathroom when I go out to eat for fear that @ any given moment during a meal-I may hurl what looks like a baby jellyfish outta my mouth...I will have my revision to a sleeve on the 14th-a few more days...I cannot wait!! I will lose that 90 again & this time-it won't find it's way back :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
