Possibly Tmi: Read With Caution

Recommended Posts

I had something like that and I am about a week out. It was my first bowel movement and it came out as you described. The other day I was at work and I felt the urgency to go throughout and it was again as you described. I was not concerned about it. I figured it was due to gas they put in our stomach.

So.... I am 4 wks out now and today I had a new and not so pleasant experience. I had very bad diarrhea and it was oil like. There was oil floating in the Water around it.... Should I be concerned?? Really sorry if TMI.

If you have had your gallbladder out- this is normal. I had mine out with my sleeve and I can tell EVERY single time I eat something greasy or fatty- same exact thing happens.

I'm 6 weeks out and still have some very loose, watery-like. My nurse practitioner said it was normal, liquids in, liquids out. Ive also learned too much sugar-free stuff will really upset my stomach, even if it's sugar-free Jello.< /p>

I still have my gall bladder. That's why I'm a little worried. Could I be having gall bladder problems now??? It's not normal watery stools. It's the oil in the Water that's concerning me.

I think from what I have read- that our food passes through too quickly and does not absorb well- and the oil is not used.

Good question- I'm going to read up a bit more too!

Alli (the "FDA approved weight loss pill" blocks grease and oil from being absorbed and you poop oil ranging from mild yellow to spray tan orange. Maybe that's all but double check with your Doc (:

I had the same experience a couple times when I was one or two weeks out (I don't remember exactly when). And although I'm not a medical professional, and I'm only mentioning this for purely sympathetic reasons, and I don't in any way suggest that this will be your experience, but I haven't had an oily diarrhea experience since then. I admit that I have absolutely no idea why and this is only MY experience. I will say though that I still have my gallbladder.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
