Gijane2012 got a reaction from Angelmom in Possibly Tmi: Read With CautionI had something like that and I am about a week out. It was my first bowel movement and it came out as you described. The other day I was at work and I felt the urgency to go throughout and it was again as you described. I was not concerned about it. I figured it was due to gas they put in our stomach.

Gijane2012 reacted to Lisa's Hope in Sleeved May 30Th.. In So Much Pain.I was the same way Catalina. I'm sorry you are going through this pain. When I posted my 1 st week after surgery, alot of people didn't know what I meant by "pain in my chest". Mine felt like a contraction or spasm. I had a lot of swelling and as the days went by the pain subsided a little each day. I was on liquid pain meds. Tasted awful..eewwww... but helped a little on the pain. It was still there though. People were telling me it was gas but it wasn't. Not the pain in the chest. Once the swelling begins to go down it will get better. I'm 11 days out now and hardly feel it at all. Hope this helps. God Bless!

Gijane2012 got a reaction from tabbymonroe in August 23Rd My New Life BeginsI called insurance company today and found out I am approved to have lapband removed and gastric sleeve. I am so elated. I wanted my surgery ASAP but I have a vacation scheduled so I had to wait until after the vacation. I am disappointed but happy at same time. Waiting gives me an opportunity to get my mind right. I know this will be my last vacation looking like this. I will do a video of my transformation. I have hated being in front of the camera but I know this is purposeful. I need to see this change. I have decided to share this surgery with a select few as I had what I felt to be a public failure with my lapband. I don't anticipate failing but how about a success that speaks loudly on its own. August 23rd is my rebirthday. Thank you God for all you've done and allowing me this blessing. I look forward to this journey of those who have gone where I am going. I look forward to encouraging those who are waiting to get where I currently am. I am so glad this site is here to hear this voice that has been quiet too long. I have to change my profile picture now.............because I am smiling big now.

Gijane2012 got a reaction from CJ_Redux in The Opportunity Cost Of Weight Loss SurgeryThanks for re-posting, definitely "food" for thought. I have not had my surgery yet but it makes me think what will I do when my "friend" is not in my life as it was before. It is a reality check. I will see the impact of my food addiction. Wow. Enlightening. I have a higher awareness. I love this site, I always take away something good each time I am on it. It is like I read the right thing for me at the right time. Thanks!!!!

You all have no idea how much better I feel reading these responses and viewing all the various threads on this website. I can't talk w/ my husband about things - he tolerated my band and seems to be in a bit of denial about me having the sleeve. He is supportive only in that he wants me to be happy but I know he is worried about me having yet another surgery.
I am so ready. So very ready. Once the anxiety over waiting for the insurance response ends, the liquid diet will begin...and then *fingers crossed* my surgery date. 11 days after that I will Celebrate my 44th birthday. Can't think of a better gift to myself!!

Gijane2012 reacted to CJ_Redux in The Opportunity Cost Of Weight Loss SurgeryYesterday food as anything more than nutrition. The opportunity cost, the trade-off of having my stomach reduced in order to lose weight, is that I can no longer satisfy the void(s) in my life with food.
I should rejoice, yes? This is what I wanted so desperately, right? Now I finally have a tool to help me lose weight. So why should I even consider a loss of anything other than pounds??
For anyone who does not struggle with food addiction and over-eating, this is probably incomprehensible. But to anyone who can relate, to anyone considering taking the so-called easy way out (i.e., weight loss surgery), this is definitely something to consider.Mexico for weight loss surgery, and counseling was not offered.
Psst!!! I didn't really think I needed it anyway.
But now, as the days go by and I continue to heal and get back to living life, I find that the thing that used to provide a source of comfort/peace/familiarity/companionship is gone. I mentioned before that it's kind of like mourning the loss of something or someone, and it is so true! I find that now I have a lot of free time, because what I used to do just doesn't work anymore. I can't watch TV and really plug into it like I used to. I didn't know the food I was eating while watching TV was such a huge factor.
Don't get me wrong. I am so glad I had the surgery. I don't regret it at all, because with it I can change my life. But that doesn't change the fact that, without food, I feel a little lost. I'm out here on my own now. My old friend Food, is gone. And while that is most certainly what I wanted, I didn't consider the opportunity cost of not having that scapegoat.
So what do I do now?? I ask myself. Living a Redux Life is about more than lip service. Now that I don't have my food crutch to lean on, I have to stand on my own two feet. And that's...scary. I now have to face my life, rather than be numb to it.
And I want to! Yet at the same time, I don't want to...
The opportunity cost of having weight loss surgery is that if food has meaning in your life other than nutrition--and let's face it, if we only used food for nutrition we wouldn't be in this situation--then you MUST do the work of evaluating how you will navigate your world once you don't have that source of comfort.
What will you do when you are uneasy with your surroundings? Eat slider foods? Start consuming more alcohol? Or will you finally get your head and heart in the game and do the work to resolve your issues?
If you can answer those questions BEFORE surgery, then perhaps the opportunity cost won't be so high. And maybe this "tool" won't feel so much like a hammer, but more like a massage.

Gijane2012 reacted to docangtx12 in 60 Pounds Lost Today! Can't believe I have lost 60 pounds ! I am 4 1/2 months postop..., starting weight of 254, today at 194! I am now in the smallest clothes I had held onto from about 8 years ago, and really need to do some shopping as the styles are definitely dated, but I don't want to buy any until it's a smaller size! I had the lap band initially in 2007, and it never seemed to work right- think I lost 30 pounds total and was always getting "stuck" before it finally "slipped" in 2011 and was removed. The sleeve is far superior in every way, and I could not be happier!! Another big difference this time is this message board- it is so full of encouragement, so full of good information, and has kept me motivated and on the right path!! Thanks so much!! Also, I am devoted and faithful to myfitness pal - and I believe it has also been pivotal in my success and encourage anyone to try it!! You can also friend me DocAngTx12 !!

Gijane2012 reacted to Sassygirl06 in I Want To Cry For HerI was so lucky that when I went in for the lap band seminar the doctor told me about the vsg....because before the seminar I was dead set on the lap band. I also respect those woman that are comfortable at whatever size they are. Unfortunatly I was not one of those woman. I really felt horrible about myself. I once went on a trip to mexico with my husband and he wanted to go horse back riding. I was so worried that the horse was going to collapse right under me, with all his legs going outward...it didnt, we took a picture together. when I got home I showed the picture to one of my co-workers...he started laughing, then he said, "oh my gosh it looks like the horses eyes are gonna pop out." He truely thought he was being funny. I went into the bathroom and cried for almost an hour. The way that man obviously felt about a woman who was overweight was how I felt everyone was really thinking about me all the time. There was never a time that I was not worried about someone judging me because of my weight. I am so thankful to not worry about it all the time anymore. I still have the fat womans brain, so every now and then I have those old feelings pop up out of no where, but then I realize that I am not morbidly obese anymore, and people dont see the old me anymore. I truely feel like I can do whatever I want now without people looking at me like I am out of place. It is truely freeing. Good luck to you on your journey!

Gijane2012 got a reaction from Sassygirl06 in I Want To Cry For HerI am waiting insurance approval after failing with the lapband or as some posted on this site, the lapband failing me. I cannot wait to get to the other side of this....I am still that woman and I yearn to crossover to a new me. I lost weight before on my own and I remember experiencing those joyful things and not feeling like an outcast. I respect the plus sized women who have embraced themselves.....are fashionable...confident...it has never been me. This is about being comfortable in my skin and I am so far from that now.

Gijane2012 got a reaction from Dooter in Patiently Waiting...band Leak Waiting On Bcbs Approval For A Sleeve....Said I was done with surgeries but four years of believing it was my fault I wasn't losing weight with the lapband.....I feel like I need to get in captain's chair and take control. I would go to have fills and really have no success. I would become depressed, then stop going...vicious cycle until this year. I should've been more proactive in the first place. Last month I went back to surgeon's office who performed my band surgery. I told them why I hadn't been there in over a year. It was like for the first time they listened...it was the first time I screamed (let my voice be heard instead of being a passive patient). I have a leak....all the internalizing I've done. Moving forward, they submitted paperwork to insurance company. I want to call the everyday (never been "that" type of person). I dont but I do every couple of days. I need to make this happen....and although this thread is titled patiently waiting......I am far from patient. I am not the obsessive type but this here.....I am obsessing on. I need to get my life back. I wrote in my first post on this site that I've seen the beauty of plus sized women. The fashionable one, confident....those who embrace their love of food.....it just has never been me....I applaud them. I have always seen myself small...I was before when I lost 100 pounds. I didn't want to have another surgery, but I need this. I pray first and foremost that I am approved, and I pray my approval is swift. Ready to live again.
Waiting for approval....
