  3. I am a little over 8 months post-op, and my hair is still majorly falling out. I still have handfuls when I brush and wash it, and daily i have loose hair that I'm picking off my shirts. I went to a board certified dermatologist bc even my nurse practitioner was concerned about the amount I'm still losing. She told me that some ppl do experience this extreme loss like I have after surgery. I've lost almost 80 pounds, so I'm thrilled with this. I just miss my hair. I take all my vitamins and even taking a prescription now that my dermatologist has put me on....and it's still coming out handfuls a day. I hope it stops soon, or I'll have no choice but to wear wigs.
  4. I was sleeved July 2012, and I've lost well over half of my hair. I have an appt with a dermatologist Friday bc my nurse practitioner was so concerned about it not slowing down and the amount I've already lost. We know it's normal, but she didn't want to assume its from the surgery and it be more serious for me. I'm getting all my protein, taking all my vitamins including biotin and hair & nails vitamin, using special shampoos & hair protein treatments. I, too, am very concerned about it. I find my hair everywhere!!!! Good luck to you!!

  7. I did it, too...the same thoughts and more. I was self-pay...my insurance wouldn't cover it. So, I also had the "you've spent all this money on yourself, and its all your fault." You are completely normal. For me, it wasn't a choice anymore. I was a complete failure at it every time. I believe all of us that have gone through surgery tried everything else first. Just remember to tell yourself You Are Worth It!!!!

  13. I'm almost 7 months out, and I remember having the same pains my first few days. If something is too cold, or too big of a swallow, I will still feel some pain for a few seconds.
  14. I get them, too...and usually burp a lot, too. Thankfully, they aren't really loud! I'm almost 7 months out. My husband will still laugh at the sounds my stomach still makes!

  17. Remember, too, that you are eating MUCH less. Less in, less out. Haha.
  18. So, I'm 11 days short of 7 months. I had my 6 month checkup yesterday and my nurse practitioner is so concerned with my incredible hair loss that she's referring me to a dermatologist. I've lost over half of my hair. I've always taken all my vitamins (including Biotin), got all my protein in, using the specialty shampoos and protein hair treatments... I'm afraid I'm going to lose all of it. I'd even wear a hat to work if I could. On a good note, all my blood tests are great. I'm off my meds, cholesterol and blood pressure are all great. I'm trying to focus on the good and positive things, but its so hard dealing with losing this amount of hair. Growing up, I loved my hair when I didn't love anything else about me. Thanks for letting me vent to people I know can possibly relate and understand.
  19. My nurse practitioner & surgeon told me that I was actually dehydrated when I was feeling hungry. So, when I started thinking I was hungry, I would drink, drink, and drink. It worked for me. Hope this helps!
  20. Thanks everyone. I guess I just have to be patient. I'm healthier than I was, even if my hair is falling out! I was afraid I'd lose it all, so it's good to know it will stop...one day! I just ordered some Isopure to help me get in all my protein. I haven't tried them, so I'm hoping I like them. I struggle getting in all my protein bc I get so full! Thanks again!
  21. When will my hair stop falling out? Handfuls and handfuls...I was dealing with it ok but I thought it was supposed to stop at around 6 months. I'm past that and it doesn't seem to be slowing down. I'm getting depressed! I'm taking all my vitamins, special shampoos...everything I know. My nurse practitioner gave me the phone number of a dermatologist that specializes in female hair loss, but her website talks about how her medicines "may cause liver damage." When can I expect it to stop falling out and start growing back?
