I'm pretty sure we have some sleevers who started out at 500+

I think you will be ok as long as you get clearance and testing done.

i haven't done mine yet, but i'm 450-ish (probably 430-ish now)

i've seen people on here my size & bigger that have gotten it & lived...

to be honest, i'm scared, too.. because being bigger, you require more anesthesia.. it's scary.. but i mean.. at least for me.. it's not like i'm doing this because i think it will be easy or because i even want to... but because i NEED to, to survive! when it's a matter of survival.. and quality of life.. then you just gotta do what you gotta do to get better.. and really try.. it's not a quick fix, it's a tool to help you become healthier and normal.. y'know? :)

so yeah.. can't blame you for being nervous or scared.. i am, too.. but i'm sure you'll be fine & you won't regret getting it. :) and me, too! :)

I supposed to have the ops 2 months ago but I failed Optifast... I keep thinking of FOOD!!!

Have you been to a therapist? You need to address this issue before the surgery. Surgery is not a a cure all. It is a tool that you have to learn how to use correctly or you are setting your self up for failure. I wish you the best of luck on your journey.

I started at 373, surgery went fine, still able to do it without going 'open'. I've had practically NO complications. On a side note, I'm only 5'6" so 373 means 56" waist 28" inseam, 5-6x shirt. So, yeah, I was a beach ball with hands and feet.

It is normal to have fears, we all did at some point

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
