Nauseous? Try Peppermint!

Recommended Posts

I see lots of posts on here about nausea. I read somewhere that peppermint helps. I have found that my Multi-Vitamin, no matter when I take it, makes me nauseous. Most recently I discovered that sucking on a sugar free peppermint makes it go away immediately. This has also worked for me when a food has not agreed with me. I just thought I would share in case anyone else is having the same issues. I wish I would have tried this months ago! :)

I've found relief with ginger chews, but they're essentially ginger/sugar clumps. I'm just getting used to the idea of sugar-free, thanks for the peppermint tip!

I experience nausea every other day. This is good to know. peppermint! Wow! I will get some later today to help with that. I usually just don't eat anything else because I feel so sick.

My wife is pregnant and when she had bad morning sickness she went to an acupuncturist who is into all this holistic stuff. She gave her a small vial of a strong peppermint liquid to just take a sniff of to alleviate the nausea. After my surgery I tried it and it works! I keep it on my desk at work now for whenever I get queasy.

I just took my antidepressant which makes me very nauseous. I chewed on a piece of sugar free peppermint gum and it subsided. Thank you for the advice.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
