Hair Loss/hair Coloring

Recommended Posts

Hey Ladies! I have been highlighting my hair since I was about 13 (it would have been so much easier if God had made me a natural blonde). I am in DESPERATE need to dye my hair, but I have been battling the dreaded Hair loss. I take Biotin every day and it has definitely helped. I still pull out a relatively large clump of hair when I get out of the shower but I can tell that it's less and less each time.

Should I wait to have my hair chemically treated? I don't want it to all fall out but my roots.....oh man they're bad..... What do you guys think? Risk it or wait? Anyone out there ever have their hair colored post-surgery, espcially during the hair loss phase?

Everything I read when I was at my Hair loss peak said not to. I did! I am too young to look like my mother!! :) I am not telling you to do it but I am telling you that I lost a lot of hair (used to be really thick, naturally curly) and I continued to color my roots and even did one all over color treatment.

My hair has always been fine but I used to have a TON of it and I can tell how much it's thinned out. You've colored your hair and had no issues with it?

I did color my hair. I didn't notice that it caused more Hair loss, in my case. Now that I am nearing the one year mark and having NO problem getting my Protein in, taking the Biotin & a hair/nail supplement, I see less and less hair loss. Just colored it last weekend. I have colored 3 or 4 times since I was sleeved. Again, everyone is different, this was just my experience.

I starting having the hair fall-out issue (I notice it mostly during/after my showers) about 4 weeks ago (I am 15 weeks post-op). I recently had my highlights redone (root touch-up) because I too prefer the golden highlights and wish I didn't get darker hair as I aged. I was white-blond as a child! :(

I don't notice any difference (increase or decrease) in the hair fall-out since I had the highlights done 2 weeks ago. I do notice that most of my hair problem centers around more tangles during/after shampooing that before the fallout began. Weird because I haven't really changed anything (same Shampoo, same conditioner). I'm thinking about buying detangler and see if that helps.

From what I've read the fallout only lasts a short while (a few months), which is good, because I have very fine, very straight hair. If it keeps falling out at this rate, I'm going to look quite "thread-bare" soon. LOL

I am a hair stylist and in my professional opinion;) I would ask your stylist if there was any kind of highlighting you could do without bleach and with a low developer.

Something maybe to get you by till it starts getting better. If your hair gets damaged you don't want to be dealing with breakage and losing your hair!

Or you could ask to put a few in just at your part line to try to camouflage the roots till it gets a little better! Hope that helps;)

I colored my hair about one month ago. I wanted my color closes to my normal color as possible because I figured I won't be coloring my hair for a long time but my hair has not thinned or fallen out anymore since I've colored it. I'am almost 4 mths out.

Mine feels better when I dye it - adding some volume to my hair and it has not affected the Hair loss situation which for me is staying about the same. I am trying to eat healthier (more veggies/fruits) for better nutrition and taking the Biotin.< /p>

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
