Reminded daily how much this surgery is needed. Cut the grass today and did okay this am, but found myself beat, hurting and short of breath while grocery shopping at Walmart. My endurance is shot. Had to take a break and sit for quite a while.

Went to Plato's Closet with wife and kids and thought maybe in six months or more I can buy something here, too.

So done with life on hold!!!

Preop is Tuesday.

Appreciate u guys.

Chad

I'm so excited for you! I was there, man. I'd look at the subway entrance steps up to the sidewalk as if they were Kilimanjaro and I'd want to weep. New York is a walking city and I'd get home from work and want to just collapse into a puddle of sweat on the floor.

I went into the trendy men's clothing store Zara and my mouth started to Water thinking about one day being able to fit into their clothes (which are designed for anorexic European men).

Starting my 6th week out. In a frustrating stall, but at least I'm starting to fit into my "thin" clothes.

Your life won't be on hold for long. Good luck with your surgery.

And we appreciate YOU!

Gustavo

You're getting so close now! Those daily reminders are really a big part of keeping me on track post-op, even just a few weeks out seeing what a difference is made in not huffing and puffing while climbing stairs. The big successes are great, the big milestones, but the every day life milestones - I think we under Celebrate them sometimes (I know I do), when they're actually really important.

Before you know it you will be on the loser's bench zipping up and down those aisles at the store.

You often inspire me!

I love clothes and have not for such a long time. I can't wait my friend to love feeling good and looking good again.

I also love being social and can't wait to move out of what holds me back now.

Let's do this!

Seriously? I inspire you? Wow! That's the best compliment I've gotten in a LONG time!

Now I really HAVE to put up a more recent profile pic of myself. I don't know about you, but I'm getting tired of seeing myself in that pic looking pregnant in that awful red shirt, pretending Morgan Freeman is my homosexual life partner.

I'm going to Coney Island tomorrow with some friends, looking forward to riding the roller coaster without worrying about derailing it. Maybe I'll take some pics of myself to update my profile.

You're better than me Chad- I walk upstairs and want to lay on my bed. ;). I totally get it and you are almost there. I think we will be doing pre op at the same time. Now if that isn't surreal I don't know what is.

Walmart just sucks the life out of everybody....even post surgery. That may not change for you.

Good luck. You'll be on the loser's bench soon.

Thanks!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
