Protein Issues (Lactose Intollerant)

Recommended Posts

Prior to surgery I was able to drink Protein Shakes no problem. I was also lactose sensitive prior to surgery. Since surgery, I can't stand almost any milk products. Most of the pre-mixed Protein Drinks have milk in them and I can't handle them. Also, just the smell of powder (even unflavored) makes me sick to my stomach. I'm almost 4 weeks out and just started eating a few spoonfulls of Peanut Butter each day just to get some Protein in. Anyone out there lactose intollerant and found a Protein Drink that they can handle? Oh and most powders I've tried with Water are absolutely disgusting...

I am having soy Protein blended with lactose free milk and a handful of frozen mixed berries. The berries help the flavour considerably.

I've found the nectar fuzzy navel Protein Powder in greek yogurt to be really good. The bacteria in the yogurt is supposed to help with digestion too, so even being intolerant, it could work for you.

I'll have to try these ideas... As for soy I've never really liked it, but for all I know my taste may have changed.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
