October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves

Recommended Posts

I don't have a pre-op diet but 2 days before surgery I will have to drink Clear Liquids but if I get too hungry they said I can have a Protein Shake. The magnesium that I have to take the day before surgery will make me crap my brains out. I'm not looking forward to the magnesium and I heard it taste awful. My surgeon has been asking me what type of incision (5 incisions or 1 incision through the belly button). I plan to just have them go through my belly button because then I will only have to worry about 1 incision healing. He says it's mostly about anesthetics but he says the decision is up to me.

My surgeon is using the davinci robot' date=' one incision for some of his surgeries. I don't know if I want it if he has had many more surgeries doing it traditionally

I'm having the vsg on the Fort Carson Army base. He said the recovery tends to be easier. I have large breast and he said with the 5 incisions I would have a incision at the top of my tummy and I figured that would suck because my boobs rest on my belly where the incision would be. He's done several single incision surgeries and I'm confident that I wont have any problems. Plus he said that none of them developed hernias, so I'm confident that I more than likely wont either.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
