I had my surgery Sept 25th 2011. I weighed 225. I now weigh 156. For me...it was easy. At first it restricted my eating quite a bit. Now I eat normally. I can eat anything or drink anything I want. I just don't eat the massive amount I used to. I'm still loosing. Not alot, but it is coming off very slowly. I get alot of feedback from people who havn't seen me in a while. Was it worth it. Hell yes! I would be 250 by now If I hadn't done it. Dr. Rodriguez in Mexico was great! I have absolutely ZERO regret, and I never ever got sick, I recommend it for those who feel desperate. That feel they will always be fat. For those that have no self control over quantity of food. That was my issue. Good luck to all!!!

Congratulations on your weight loss! Thank you for sharing your experience. Not that I am wishing time away, but I am really looking forward to reaching my goal. In the meantime, this is the first weight loss experience where I have actually been enjoying the journey because I do not feel deprived!

That's awesome!! I love reading people's success stories. I've been stuck in a stall for TWO WEEKS! I'm hoping I've managed to break that this week.

So, are you at goal? Should we Celebrate??

Thanks for sharing. It's a big help to hear about longer term results for those of us who a pre-op and trying to figure out what it's going to be like.

I am pre-op and your post was exactly what I needed to hear! My main issue is quantity and my other issue to a lesser degree is carbs, specifically breads. I am so happy that you are doing so well!

those who feel desperate

MrsCT

congrats on your successess

"desperate" - never would have used that word - EXCEPT - after WLS, roommate and i were chatting , closed curtain between us, she asked me what surgery i had.

i told her i had bariatric surgery. She came back with "wow you must have felt desperate" (saw her later, she was obese too)

i had never thought of it that way,

yes, after all my yo yo dieting throughout the years, for health reasons et al - i was desperate. i needed this WLS

now, enjoying life to its fullest with good health, happiness - feeling great

good luck through your journey

you have done great

MrsCT where in Mexico did you see Dr Rod? I have my surgery scheduled for 9/3 with Dr Rod in Mexico as well. Would love to pick your brain as I am getting nervous :)

Thank you so much for a glimpse of the road ahead. My surgery is scheduled for Sept 5th. I'm excited and nervous but hearing your success story has taken away some of the nerves!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
