This issue is my only regret. My doctor recommended Miralax, but I wish I could drink a big glass of Metamucil...that would do the trick, but it wouldn't fit in my sleeve. Hope you're feeling better soon.

Have you tried prune juice? Unlike other methods, it's natural and effective... I also read a post on here by someone who adds MiraLAX to her Premier Protein shake every morning (which is her Breakfast pretty much) and that works for her. Hope this helps.

My program recommends Benefiber or the store brand equivalent.

Thank you all for being my sounding board feeling better this morning and 2 pounds less! lol I did find and over the counter chewable Fiber supplement which is also sugar free! It's Walmart equate brand and it's compared to Fiber Choice. It's taken a few days to work but I feel so much better now!

I did think about adding benifiber to my Protein shakes but it alters the taste and it's a lot to drink so these chewable fiber supplements I think are my ticket to staying regular plus walking my daily two miles around the park! lol

Lucy, try Miralax in your shakes. It has no taste. I'm going to have to find those chewable fiber supplements.....

Ok, I have a question. I am one week post op....I have not "gone" since before the surgery, is this normal? should I be worried? I mean I know nothing is going in so I guess there is nothing to come out. Just wondering.

I think it is pretty normal. I was told not to expect anything for 5-6 days. Keep drinking Water and try for a brisk 20 minute walk every day to get things moving.

Um well if there just Clear liquids, Jello and whey Protein shakes going into your system you should have some movement; however, your body is in shock and in healing mood so yes, it's normal.

However, I did take laxitive after surgey per my Doc instructions to avoid strain and to much backage becuase your still consuming 60 grams of Protein a day in liquid form.

So I would go with how you feel I was really in pain and maybe my issue or more individual than as a general role becuase prior to surgery I was irregular.

Hope this helps!

I tried most, if not all of what has been previously mentioned. NOTHING helped, not really......for some reason I realized I needed insoluable (sp?) fiber.....the absolute best thing I've found is Whole Wheat Shredded Wheat. I eat it dry as a snack, 1/2 cup once a day, if I need or want another snack, a nice crunchy one, I'll eat another half cup. It's changed my life!!! Once in a while I'll eat it as a Cereal, but with milk I can only eat a fourth cup. Good luck, I hope this helps!!

Miralax in the beginning...and oatmeal every few days now that I eat like a normal person.

I've fought it all my adult life, just got worse post-op. Mirilax works for me too, although I started using Chia seeds, 2 teaspoons at lunch in a SF pudding and 2 teaspoons at supper with a yogurt. It's been wonderful.

Milk of magnesia works really well for me and I never have had cramping with it.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
