Hi...am New Here :)

Heya, live in Sydney, Australia...booked in for op on the 30th of August...starting to become a little scared now! When you're so busy with work and life it creeps up on you.

Anyone have any suggestions on keeping chilled out?

Xx

Hello and welcome! Congratulations on your upcoming surgery. One thing I discovered on the forum (unfortunately not until after I was sleeved) is that it is totally normal to be nervous. Personally, I was so nervous that I nearly turned around and walked back out of the hospital right before I checked in. Fortunately, I didn't and everything was surprisingly uneventful and I have no regrets. Type in "nervous" in the search line and you will find lots of reassuring threads to fortify you! I found it was best to stay as busy as possible leading up to surgery so I did not give my brain time to think about it too much. I also wrote down a list of things I hated about being overweight, reasons I wanted to lose weight and things I was looking forward to when getting to my healthier goal weight. When I found myself getting nervous, I would look at my list and it would strengthen my resolve. YOU CAN DO THIS!

Thank you Tracey...I have read a bit on here, on one hand it is encouraging, on another it is scary! Only a week and a half to go and I'm certainly busy hehe.

Thanks for your kind words and suggestions :)

Welcome!! Nerves can be the worse before surgery....you will do great. You have already taken a big step towards improving your health and life!

I was very nervous before mine (7/17)...it seemed to be all I could think of. Just focus on getting ready for when you come home. Clean out your closets, etc. Keep a journal preop and continue after. This was the BEST thing I ever did for myself.

Good luck with the surgery & a speedy recovery!!

Soccermom is right. Being nervous is normal. Spend this time preparing for post op. Stop drinking during meals, learn to tak small sips abd chew food throughly. Go through the pre and post op threads for inspiration. Believe me, the time goes quickly I am one day post and had zero complicatins and on pain at the incision.

You can do this!

Thanks guys..time is flying by! Maybe that's another reason I'm worried. Just don't feel prepared. Have been reading lots of the threads. Some are awesome. Some are super scary hehe. Hope you are feeling ok after your surgery and heal nice and quick! Xx

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
