Almost Too Good To Be True

Recommended Posts

I am so glad that I found this site now that I have finally decided on the sleeve. I have been thinking about WLS for a few years and in the past 3 months have seriously considered the Sleeve. SOOO I started my journey with my PCP letting him know this is what I have decided to do. Now I have the nutrition class on 08/21 then meet the surgeon on 08/23 then psych evaluation on 08/27. I was told during my initial conversation with the coordinator at the surgeon's office that once I get my psych evaluation done then we will set a date. This seems to be going REALLY fast. I have read where it takes most people at least 2 months for the process and other much longer. It almost seems too good to be true because I am given the impression I will have surgery within a month MAYBE month and half from initial call from surgeon's office. How long did the whole process take from beginning to end?

I hope it goes quickly for you! I had to do a 6 month supervised diet. So from the start of that till surgery date it was 9 months. I guess my PCP took a couple months to get all my paperwork in. Ugh! As soon as I had insurance approval I had surgery within 2.5 weeks. It went quick!

My timeline was the same as alliemm. I hope your's is quicker and not too good to be true! I know that once I had finally made up my mind, after two years of deliberating, I was ready to get it done!

Tracey I hope it's not bc not that I have made the decision I'm like you I don't wanna wait anymore! I don't know what I would do if it ended up being 9 months

Wow! Congrats! It will take me at least 6 months if my insurance co. approves it...quicker if I have to go to Mexico :)

Initial consult was in September I think. My actual surgery was January 11th. There were a lot of tests to go through as well as the psych and then getting the surgery approved by insurance and scheduled. The insurance approval made me SUPER nervous, but it went through without a hitch.

Mine was 3 weeks but I was self pay. I made an appointment with the surgeon and made my decision while in her office! She booked my surgery then and there and had a gap that matched a good time for me work wise given that I would need to have time off. She then got me an appointment with the NUT and I started the pre op diet 2.5 weeks out. Easy!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
