What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"

Recommended Posts

I'm pre op for another 10 days.

There are many reasons, but the last straw was a flight to visit my sister. The plane was about 2/3 full when I walked down the isle all the way to the back where my seat was. Every eye looked at me in horror that I'd sit next to them. As I passed one guy I heard him say "whoow, that was close" I'm not even sure he was talking about me, but in my mind I felt so ashamed to sit next to anyone and ruin their flight. When I finally got to my seat I had to sit next to a large framed (not fat) Marine. He was nice but I apologized for the inconvenience. Luckily the flight attendant found me a seat in back, next to the toilets where I had nobody sitting next to me. On the return light I lucked out and sat next to the tiniest woman on the plane. Next year for my visit I hope to be much lighter and feel more at ease.

I am pre-op but I've made the decision to change my life for my children.

My 3 year old walks around holding her back saying "my back is killing me!" Wonder where she learned that from?

I can't do anything with my babies when they want me to.

I don't want to die and leave my children without a mother but I don't want to live and be a mother they don't deserve.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
