Trouble re-starting after being Pregnant

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I just had a baby :clap2: back in April and I am having such a hard time restarting my band journey, I had my surgery back in 01/07/05 and weighed 243.5, as of today I am at 192 but it's so hard to even start losing again. I can't seem to remember the band rules or maybe I just need someone to talk to so that I can get motivated again.

</O:p

I drink when I eat<O:p

I snack during the day (sometimes good and sometimes bad stuff)<O:p</O:p

I eat wrong foods<O:p</O:p

I forget I am not pregnant anymore (even though when I was pregnant I only gained 23 pounds from 204 to 227).<O:p

<O:p</O:p

I have a goal of losing 30 pounds by my band anniversary 01/07/07 but I desperately need help restarting, I love my baby to death but man it messed me up.<?xml:namespace prefix = v ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" /><v:shape id=_x0000_i1026 style="WIDTH: 11.25pt; HEIGHT: 11.25pt" alt="0" type="#_x0000_t75"> <v:imagedata o:href="http://lapbandtalk.com/images/smilies/embarassed.gif" src="file:///C:/DOCUME~1/ealanis.000/LOCALS~1/Temp/msoclip1/01/clip_image002.gif"></v:imagedata></v:shape>Any hopes.......:omg:

Well for starters Welcome back, being here will help..I have no band anymore and I still come here and it helps me so much. Go back to basics, you can do this. What is your fill level right now? Could it be you need a fill to rejuvenate you, a fill always got me back on track and rejuvenated me. You are fortunate to still have your band, use it to the best of your ability, you could be like me, bandless and struggling. I started weight watchers to get me going again. I love the accountability of having to weigh in every week with a real live person and for $12 a week it is so worth it to me, maybe WW is something for you to think about to get you going again, if for nothing else just for the weekly weigh ins. Just a thought. Hang in there and remember you can do this :(

congrats on the new baby. I know that it can be hard getting back on track with bandster rules. maybe if you start recording everything you are eating that will help. Did you get a fill after having the baby? or if not are you thinking about getting one? Well I hope things work out for you soon!

I did get a fill 6 weeks later so I am at 2.0 and have been able to eat okay the last 3 weeks but right after my fill I was on soft foods and liquids mostly because I coudn't really eat. I am sure if I start posting again and reading all the posts it should get me started but I am still recovering from having a baby and being back at work (oh I also have 2 older boys ages 11 and 6 and I am a soccer mom).

You are still recovering fro mhaving a baby in April? Did you have a C-section? I too have 4 children, run my own bussiness( restaraunt) and coach boys baseball, it is possible to get back on track..but often times we find excuses..I know this first hand, it took me 10 months after losing my band to stop making excuses and join weight watchers so I would not gain this weight back. I have faith in you that you wil find your way back..soon :(

I had my baby normal but last month on the 21st I got my tubes ties and they did it like a c-section so I am 4 weeks out and I need about 2 more before I can work out. Thank you so much for your advice and I really appreciate you taking your time and replying to my post.

hi esmeralda

reading your journey it reminded me very much of what iam experiencing after 6 months with the band i got pregnant. Even though we were overjoyed i did not know it was going to be tougher after pregnancy.

while pregnant i gained 23 pounds, after pregnancy i lost the 23 pounds and know i am in a stump. partly because i have very poor eating habits busy with a 6 month old i dont eat anything till 12:00 pm and when i finally eat something i choke and end up throwing up if i eat too fast.

i grab whatever i can and tend to drink Soup just to get something in my stomach. The funny thing is that at night i tend to eat more and dont have a problem choking on food. All the wrong habits and still have cravings for chips and Cookies ?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
