Is Tylenol The Only Thing We Can Take?

Recommended Posts

So my surgery was August 1st and I still feel plenty of discomfort in my body I'm almost out of pain meds and I've been taking the lowest dose possible to ween myself off of them. The problem is pre surgery Tylenol use not do much for me. So my question is to help alleviate some of the aches what can I take??

I was the same, never bought Tylenol before surgery because it didn't do squat. But I found it did help (some, not a lot) when I needed it for aches/pains. Children's liquid, of course.

Liquid Tylenol is the only thing I am allowed to take. I can tell you, prior to surgery, Tylenol wouldn't have touched my lower back pain. Since surgery, I've had low back pain twice, and just 3 tsp (yes...tsp...not TBSP!) took care of the pain for me. You might try it before you give up on it...you might be as surprised as I was! Best of luck!

I am allergic to Tylenol and ibuprofen. I can't have aspirin or Aleve after surgery. I guess I will just have to endure.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
